Hello Guy's, I'm warming up for my next build, the HPH Cat can't take forever, right?

This project is one of my favorite Luftwaffe aircraft, the Arado Ar 234 'Strahlflugzeug'

7698-190118112007-12898804.jpeg

Haven't quite decided on the subject yet, there are several interesting subjects that can be done from this kit...

Aftermarket stuff:

7698-190118112005-128931212.jpeg

Got a nice book from Valiant Wings on the Arado, with a lot of details : "The Arado Ar 234 A Detailed Guide To The Luftwaffe's Jet Bomber"

Extra decals from Fly Models, the night fighter version.

I have also been 'harvesting' the necessary aftermarket parts for this build:

Instrument panel from Yahu Models

Laser seatbelts from HGW

Paintmasks from New Ware & Pmask

Late Luftwaffe paint set from HATAKA

Late Luftwaffe Cockpits from MIG

Air weathering set German Late Fighters - MIG

AIMS Luftwaffe RB 50/30's for the camera bay.

Jumo 004 engine sprues from Trumpeters Me 262.

Photoetch sets:

Me-262 engine PE set from AIMS

Jumo 004 basket - Tinyland

Service panel set - Tinyland

Wheel blocks - Tinyland

The plan is to display, at least one of the Jumo 004 engines open + detailing the camera bay of the Arado Ar 234.

Can't wait to start this 'ordinary' build and get away from all the resin parts of the Cat...

Cheers: Kent

Great choice Kent! I built one a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. I redid the nose gear a bit as some of the details were off.

Kagero has a couple of books with 3D images in it that I found really helpful, especially with the cockpit.

AMS Resin has a set of wheels for the kit too. You might need to ask Harold to cast them for you if they're not in his catalogue.

Thanks guy's! Just to get things going, here's a photo taken in the spring of 1945 after the capitulation of the Germans in Denmark.

7698-190118174040-12899550.jpeg

It's taken at, what used to be a major Luftwaffe airfield during ww2 'Fliegerhorst Grove' here in Denmark.

(it's quite close to were I live, only 40 miles away and today it's a base for the danish airforce)

Cheers: Kent

Looking forward to seeing this build!  The Ar234 is such an interesting aircraft.  I've seen the one at the Smithsonian a couple of times.  Have you used the Hataka paints before?  If so, what is your take on them?

Wow, I really would like to see it 1:1!

No I haven't got any experience with Hataka, it's a first, but I will give them a try. I have Mr. Color paints as well, as backup ;-)

Cheers: Kent

Hi Kent!

Likewise, I am excited for your next creation, and it appears you have covered the bases with additional aftermarket components. I also appreciate the B&W reference photo very much. I am curious about the paint set as well, having more than once hovered a finger over the “Buy Now” button online. Since this is your first time using the paint, will you be testing samples and if so would you mind sharing any thoughts when you do? Thanks so much for your great documentation! I am subscribed.

Cheers!

Built the Fly Model nightfighter in 2016. I also used the engine from the Trumpeter 262. Fitted very good. Enjoy!
