Black Sheep One
Hey guys I've been itching to start building a LSP for a while and my friend Peterpools suggested I should build it here on this website. So here I am. BTW, this is my first large scale build. Nothing much to show today as I was buy most of the day running errands and cleaning up my apartment (it's still a mess.....it's the life of the single man ). Is it too late for me to find a girlfriend who's into scale model building? Anyways...... The kit: 1/32 Revell P-38J Inside the box: The clear sprues: main canopy parts broke off the tree. some damage was done: decals: washing off the mold release. I use Super Clean. Very strong de-greaser. CAUTION: I strongly recommend the use of gloves and do this in a well ventilated area as the fumes are nasty! Lay it down on some paper towels to dry overnight: And that's it until tomorrow. That's when the fun begins! LSP_Ron
Great stuff! A newbie to LSP's. Once you start, you won't go back. If you have questions, need advise, or a plain kick in the butt to keep going (can't say "Ass" as a staff member) I am sure you will find it here. Guest Peterpools
Howard Great to see you taking the plunge and diving in. Always enjoy watching the older kits tackled and brought up to the detail levels we've come to expect. One nasty chip on the canopy. I'm wondering if it can be filled in with epoxy or CCA and the polished out.Is it too late for me to find a girlfriend who's into scale model building ...."Is it too late for me to find a girlfriend who's into scale model building?"..... Of course it is! Peter

K5IKL
Having just finished that kit a few months back I know exactly what you will be going through during the process of building it. One thing for sure, have plenty of putty ready to go. You will surely need it.... Cheers and good luck, Jerry

Sharkmouth
some damage was done: Howard, if that section doesn't buff out, remember that it does crank down... Note that these are early Lightnings with the side opening top canopies: Late during the E production the top canopy was changed to open back: Regards,

Guest Peterpools
Howard Great idea about the window cranking down. Don't forget Bondo is also a great filler for all the seams and gaps. How is the house cleaning going? Peter
