Here is a progress report the cockpit. As you can see l have come along quite a bit on this. l have to make a new seat as the kit one has the back of the seat too low. l may make that out of plastic as the seat was painted black and l may do the same. l am also working on the engine bearing assembly. l hope you like the work so far.

l made a better seat for the cockpit and painted it black like the black lacquer they used and made a seat cushion . The flight controls been added and now l have to add is the fuel tank and the part of the engine that protrudes into the cockpit area

on both sides l removed the molded in excess panels as you would see these on the inside. the larger one l tend to leave removable while the smaller one on the other side l will glue the new one on. At this time l also use some wood decal l had to simulate the wood part of the fuselage. l would have used more veneer but it was too thick even for this so the decal was the better option here.

here is how it should look with the cockpit in one fuselage half

that's all for now

Now l been working on the engine. The kit engine is not bad but it needs detailing. l also have to scratch build the rear mounting arrangement like you see in the above picture so l can mounted like the real thing.

l cut off the kit push rods for each cylinder and replaced them with stainless steel rod. l also took very thing copper wire and glued them to each spark plug. The whole thing took me several days to complete but l must say l got the look l wanted

here is the engine with the rear of the engine attached. this will not be glued to the engine as l want the engine and propeller to rotate freely
