MRP paints, holy smoke!

I recently purchased some MRP flanker colors on the recommendations I have seen from several folks on here. I recently finished my first 1/48 su-35 from great wall using AKAN paints and was pretty happy with the finish but I used the faded flankers colors they had. Most of the photos of the su-35 flankers used in Syria seemed to be freshly painted with almost NO fade. So I was off to find another line of colors. I got the MRP in the other day and looked promising. Last night I had some free time and shot the MRP on a scrap piece of plastic. All I can say is Wow! These shoot great! As discussed, right out of the bottle smooth glossy finish and no fuss at all other than a little potent in the smell. I am impressed and I am one picky dude when it comes to paint and it is worth the $$ for me. I'm adding MRP to 'The Dudes' approved list.

I'll be using these on my 2nd GW su-35 and 1st kinetic su-33. When I get the mig ammo flanker colors I will try those out on my third GW flanker and report back on those paints at that time.

I'm nearly 100% lacquer paints these days: Mr Color and MRP. Love both but for me, Mr Color is in the number one spot. You can't go wrong with either and my collection of both continue to grow.

I'll soon be ordering some Gunze for my '190 and G-14. A always loved their Aqueous, and now look forward to trying out the Mr. Color paints.

MRP paints are more expensive but you do get a lot more paint in the bottle. 30ML compared to 10ML in the Mr Color/Aqueous range. In AUS I pay $12 on average for MRP and $4.50 for Mr Color/Aqueous. I use both MRP and Mr Color and use the Mr Color thinner for both.

Initially true but MRP paints are shot straight from the bottle while Mr Color paints are diluted a minimum of 1 drop of paint to 1 drop thinner (20 ml of paint per bottle)  and some colors are 1 drop of paint to 2.5-3 drops of thinner. (25-30 ml of paint per bottle).  So it get very close to how far a bottle will go. Both paints are top flight in my book

I am an avid user of both MRP and Mr Color. Both are fantastic paints and you can't go wrong by choosing one or the other. In my experience, a bottle of Mr Color (10 ml) goes about as far as a bottle of MRP (30 ML) because Mr Color needs thinner added and has slightly better coverage (opacity). Cost and availability of MRP is a big issue in the USA, that may not exist in other countries. I get a bottle of MRP for about $8 shipped versus about $3 shipped for Mr Color, so Mr Color is far cheaper. MRP has more out of the bottle colors available, so a slight edge to MRP there. Mr Color is my first choice for paint, and MRP only gets bought when a specific Mr Color shade is not available.

Anyone here have experience with Light Ghost and Dark Ghost Grey from MRP? I bought both colors to apply the Navy TPS on my current A-6 build but yet to get to the point where I need to use the paints. Also, I finally came across a supplier from which I sourced the same colors in the Mr. Hobby Acrylic line that everyone has always bragged about but are not available in the U.S.   I did however find the Mr. Hobby lacquer based paints at my LHS but yet to use any of the three paint lines I've mentioned. That said, I'm curious if anyone here has experienced with all three paint lines and what their thoughts are? If you had all three at your disposal, which would you choose and how would you rank them?

Thanks

I heard great stuff about how MRP behaves. But I am sceptical about the colours. The RAF dark earth and dark green look weird, almost "Italian", nothing like the real colours. Whoever mixed the pigments in that case never got close to a real plane.

I am looking forward to trying MRP paints when I can find some to try.

I currently use a mix of Mr Color and Tamiya Lacquer/Acrylics and love them both. Some colours seem better with Tamiya and others better with Mr Color. Don't know why and wish I could remember which was which for the next time!
