Totally missed that one on the GB Color my world blue! Don't know where I was!

So I think that this one would have made it, since it's all painted, or will be, blue.

So it is based on the really nice Fisher model. What I am trying to do is represent it as it would have been the day of the race, in a way it is a "what if".

The fuse is just sitting on top of the wings, watching how things will fit in there. Quite thight, I want to see an engine change!

So stay tuned!

I really wish I could afford this wonderful Fisher kit. I have a 1/32 scale papermodel that I hope to use as a pattern for a plastic model.

Following your WIP with great interest.

Sincerely

Pascal

Looks great! I have Paul's second release with the closed fuse. The fit is awesome, and with Paul's terrific 1 piece fuselage and 1 piece wings, assembly should go quick.

For anyone interested in a copy of their own after reading this thread, I did an IBR of Paul's kit:

I'm using this book as a reference. There is a ton of info, not only on the aircraft itself, but on the work of Ettore Bugatti and Louis de Monge the designer.

Started work on the ignition harness, Did two tubes with eight holes in them and then threaded ignition wires from Detail Master in them.

And then installed all accessories in there, cooling pipes, magnetos, radiator. Routed all wires from the magnetos to the spark plugs and this is where I am now.

I decided to paint the engine compartment grey, as I am sure that with all the fuel and oil, they wanted to protect the wood with more than just varnish, and since the military where interested in the aircraft, it was common practice to paint engine compartment.

Stay tuned!

Super job on this great resin kit! It looks like the kit is very easy to assemble.

It is a really nice kit and the fit is really good. Paul Fisher does them with great care and ease of build, so they can be turned out into superb models.

Thanks Shawn! First time I saw this aircraft, it was love at first sight! For an airframe that was designed in the 1930's, it was quite revolutionary either in design and in construction.

Cheers

Indeed!  Being up close and personal to the one at the EAA Air Venture museum in Osh-Kosh was a treat.  It really does have a timeless, elegant design for sure.

The EAA museum is worth the trip, but if you can schedule your visit around Air Venture. It's usually in the summer, and it's the only place I've been in the world that I could see (and did several times) a formation of P-51s or coursairs and not give it a second glance because of the absolutely CRAZY amount of vintage planes, military planes and warbirds there.

So the wings are glued to the fuselage.

Almost ready for primer!

The grey panel in the cockpit is  supposed to be polished alu but I think I will paint it a mat color, because after a few flights, the pilot must have complained about light reflection on the canopy and for the same reason I will paint the cockpit mat grey. Varnish wood is nice on a ChrisCraft boat, not an aircraft IMHO! Except old WWI bipes of course!

Stay tuned!
