  1. As an armored car enthousiast this is a must buy for me. I've always had a thing for the 234. Shouldn't be too bad, their previous releases were all reasonably priced imho.
  2. I tend to have a thing for floatplanes but I might be the exception, not the rule.
  3. https://cults3d.com/:586097 Don't know if they print/fit well but hey, they're free....
  4. Awesome Kev, looking forward to what you guys have come up with!
  5. How about a subforum? One thread would be too limited I think. A subforum would allow for threads about troubleshooting, sharing tips and tricks, reviews of files you bought or found etc...
  6. Seems like more people are taking the plunge. I'm loving it so far! In terms of cleaning, I'm gong to get a large ultrasonic cleaner. Been getting really good results with the small one I have (har har ), works better than a wash and cure. I wonder if it would be worth it to create a subforum dedicated to printing? We could share experiences and interesting models we found, LSP or others, I already found a lot of stuff I'd like to share but I'm afraid it might clutter up the other forums. Thoughts? If you like armor kits, check out this guy: https://cults3d.com/en/users/IO_Butov/creations between the spacebugs theres a few really nice free tank models. (the bugs are excellent too if you're into that)
  7. That's also part of the problem. I found a lot of STLs from sites like Gambody are being sold by various sellers on Etsy for a fraction of the price. A quick return of investment for the reseller but the original author loses out on a lot of sales.
  8. Be sure to check out the UniFormation GKTwo, if I hadn't bought the Saturn that's the one I'd save up for.
  9. Oh well, if it's buildable as is it'll still make a nice ceiling hanger. Considering it's probably done by a single person in their spare time I still find it impressive.
  10. So, couple of thoughts, from the perspective of an "assembler" Pros: Engineering wise it seems to be well thought out, with a pin system to align everything, good part separation and all the big parts seem to be hollowed out. There's a basic interior and the model has surface detail, which is more then most of the online models have. High polygon count, all surfaces, details and edges look nice and smooth. Transparent pieces are separate so they can be printed in clear material. Cons: Rivets and panel lines seem oversized to me, how they look after printing remains to be seen. Cockpit is only detailed at the front, so those that want a full interior will have some scratchbuilding to do. Engines will need to be covered up or replaced as they're more designed like a toy. It uses the same engine as the I-16 which is itself based on the Wright R-1820 Cyclone, so there are options out there. Painting and detailing the interior could be tricky but there's always the option to further split the parts before printing. Landing light covers are clear parts but the lights will have to be scratchbuilt. Can't say much about the accuracy, I'll leave that to the experts. One thing I've seen so far is one of the side windows on the nose part should be further to the back. Conclusion: I'm very impressed with this model. With an engine replacement and some landing lights in the wings I think it will look the part. If, however, you want an accurate model with all the bells and whistles you'll have some work to do but it might be an easier starting point than a VAC-form kit.
  11. I took some screenshots of the 3d model, I'll share my thoughts later but feel free to have a look: https://photos.app.goo.gl/KubVR6mFWmez36bg8
  12. I think the technology has huge potential and even the larger resin printers are starting to become more affordable. The amount of detail you can get on a modern resin printer puts even the best ejection molded models to shame. However, as with any technology there are caveats. Different resin qualities, quality of the model, potential errors in the model, printing speed and temperature, resin shrinkage,... are all factors that could ruin the fun. I also had to wade between thousands and thousands of low detail and sometimes seriously overpriced stuff to find a few hidden gems like this one. Loads of wargaming stuff out there, even for free, some very nice armor kits too, but high detail printable aircraft are a rarity. That being said I'm excited to see what the future might bring
  13. I'll try and do some build plate layouts in Chitubox in the coming days so I can give you some better info. I've only started resin printing a few weeks a go so I still have a lot to learn.
  14. https://files.cults3d.com/uploaders/21552492/illustration-file/d965436f-dc65-46d9-ae8e-480f89984429/C8.jpg Here's a picture of the part separation. Certain parts like the wings are both included as full parts for larger printers or as split into three. The split of the wings is done along a panel line to minimize the need for cleanup. I need to go work in a bit but I'll post some screenshots from my slicer program if I find the time. As far as I can see a medium size resin printer (Like an Elegoo Saturn) should be able to handle the entire model in a few prints.
  15. Please move if not appropriate for LSP discussion. In my search for printable kits and aftermarket I came across this model: https://cults3d.com/:653966 I decided to buy it. Not sure how accurate it is (the wings are just mirrored) but the amount of detail you get for the money is very nice. One of the better aircraft models I found so far, so i thought I'd share it here. I'll be sure to make a build topic when I get around to printing it.
