Hello Eli

May I ask why you only did one side of the nose art for Lady Of The Dark on your sheet?

Hi,

There was no info at the time to see the other side if there was also a pin-up placed.

Regards,

Eli

This very discussion is going on at Hyperscale at the moment and nobody has yet produced an image of the left side of the nose showing any artwork.  The consensus to date is that the squadron badge is on the left side as is shown on several other aircraft of the same group.

There was a P-61 with the same Nose Art girl with a FULL BLUE Bathing suit on the left side. But it had no name.  I think that maybe the confusion. It sure fooled me.

But for the life of me I can't find the photo now. :hmmm:    It's in one of my many Black Widow books.   Just saw it last week.

In Squadrons P-61 Black Widow in action 10226 page 48 of one of the revised versions

( a reclining Bathing Beauty adorns the Great Speckled Bird P-61B-1-no. 42-39417
During its assignment to the 417th Night Fighter Squadron while serving with the 417th (the aircraft had previously been assigned to the 414th and 416th squadrons)
The plane's crew included dick Hoover and Earl Dickey

As Lady of the dark was a 548th 42-39408 should have red cowl flaps and Spinner cap

Maybe you can forward this post to hyperscale

Cheers
VANDY
