hello all !

i have to confess , i am not a big fan of U.S. planes in general  , from the mustang to the F-35 .

the F-5 however is one of the few exceptions , especially in the various aggressor schemes !

with the release of the KH's kit and nothing on the bench i had to do something and quick !

so here is the start of the build :

i went quite fast and smooth the only issues were a bit of flash and some ejector pins that needed sanding/cutting .

All thats left to do is a few wires/cables /tubing behind the seat and around the rear of the pit . should be good enough for me .

Looking forward to this. I was interested in the other VFC-111 option in the kit, but they botched the decals (wrong Bu.number, and worst of all, the “AF†lettering on the right side tail sunburst is reversed).

Kikka, there's PE for the seat belts unless your going with the pilot, the instructions don't show it though. I've been doing a slow build review video series on my facebook page, be careful with the gun bays! The holes aren't in place for the s'board parts at all, you might want to use the port one as a template.

Awesome! May I ask if there is a space between the cockpit floor and the bottom of the fuselage?

done ! the nose bays are completed :

here is the gun bay completely open ; since the aggressors had the ammo boxes removed i did this too:

and here is how it should look once the kit is RFI :

Kittyhawk does not provide the placards/writings that are everywhere in this . airscale's or others should be good enough for it

the barrels are remade using syringes ; they will be painted and installed once the kit is complete :

now the gear :

first offwhite/FS17875 , Mr color's chrome silver then some MRP clear coat and AK's brown wash , i also used Mig's PLW dust for the tire . then some scratches using MR color's MC218 and Mig's fuel stains on the piston .

Kittyhawk's instructions forgot to mention the parts C1 , they will be instaled once everything is flat coated , glued and ready for the RFI pics !

the F-5's have the gear bay closed when grounded , good news for me ! once more some FS17875 and MRP's clear followed by AK's brown wash and Mig's PLW dust :

okay ! after a few days of painting , brushing and other small details the pit is good enough for me !

paint are gunze and tamiya . prince august for the details using a fine brush .

the placards are not included in the box . they come from my spare stash .

The framing does detach from the canopy . this will make painting the camo a lot easier !

the pit is only taped up for the photos ; hopefully a new IP will be available . i will then install it along the HUD .

Next step is the MLG and bays .

See ya !

Wow Jean that looks wonderful!  Im really impressed with how good that looks straight OOB. IIRC, KHM does usually include both an open and closed canopy? I have to assume that is the case here, as it appears the "closed" canopy looks to fit really well.

Well done!
