Looking good Shawn. I built this kit a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. It must have shown, because it won first place at Model Expo here in Melbourne! Looking forward to more updates.

Thanks Bevan, its enjoyable so far for sure!

I do think if you enjoy the build that it shows in the final result, a lot like painting or sculpting I think our models take on a bit of our emotions as we go.

I was able to add some wire details to the gunsight and restore the headrest levers on the seats last night.

Should be primer time today!

while waiting for my wife to wake up before firing up the compressor, I decided to go through and knock a few other items out.

Opened up the heater exhaust vents on the top of the wings. Revell molds them in relief I just made quick work of 'em with a pin vise

Needed to fit the oblique gun inserts into the fairing

add the ladder door to the fuselage

then onto the ventral gun tray.

Revell gives you blank inserts for the unused blast tubes

those aren't gonna cut it so I stuffed some sprue in them

some liquid glue made em all melty snuggled in and after a while I sawed off then filed and sanded them down

a spot or two of filler and voila!

pics to come but I got all the (grey) cockpit parts painted up in a black base style.

Started with light grey (Gris Claro) on the vertical surfaces

then used GrauBlau (Grey) on the horizontal surfaces and edges of the panels

then a thinned Medium Sea Gray (Mar Medio) as the final color.

  • 2 weeks later...

now that Im back I can catch pic's up from before my departure.

I should start working on detail painting this week.

I also received some excellent ZM '219 pilots from BloorWest (Thanks Carl!) that will be painted up and added.

Not shown is the dry brushing and pigments added, some of these are post wash
