G-Man
What putty are you guys using for camo masking? I use Gunze Mr. Color paint, but I've heard some putty brands like Blu Tack will stain the paint.
1to1scale
I used the "white tack", never had an issue, but I use acrylic paint. Tomjw and CANicoll 1
CANicoll
Ditto, I use 'Scotch Removable Mounting Putty'. Don't use it on a matte surface, go for a gloss or satin. Had similar problems to you with the Blue Tac - left a residue behind. I have some Play-Doh but have not actually used it yet. I may still on my latest build. If I do, I will let you know how it turns out...
Guest Maxim
White tack, Blue tack. Same here never an issue. If it leaves small pieces behind you just use another piece of tack to pick it up.
G-Man
Hmmm, at my work, we have foam tape that prevents hard edges. It's rather thick though, as it's for cars. It's a wonder no model company hasn't scaled it down.

Same same here, with never an issue staining. The theory with the blue tack is that generally whatever color it is, the tack will stick to itself way better than most any other surface. Maxim right, just use another piece of tack, to pick up any parts or bits of the tack left behind from masking. Works a treat.
