rare Hasegawa kits ???

Erwin

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

This week end I saw two Has kits FS at a convention, and I am wonderring now if I let a good deal pass me bey.

* the Me-262 two seater nightfighter, limited ed. kit.

The ventor asked 70 Euro (about 75 $ ). It looked a bit much to me .Stupid not to buy it ??

* the Fieseler Storch, with skis. I build the Storch with wheels long ago,and I can't remember if the kit allways has parts to build both versions. (does the Revell Storch have them ? )

Is the kit with skis a separate kit and is it rare ??

Thanks for any info.

If you consider that the Revell 1/32nd scale Raiden, Tony and George are rare, then the Haseagwa Me262B-1a/U1 and Fiesler Fi 156C Storch have not reached that plateau. With some scrounging, these kits can still be had at a decent price (seen e-bay prices for a Raiden lately?).

When first released, I believe the 262 ran in the $60 US price range. I feel it to be a bit far fetched given the surgery required on the kit. Hasegawa supplies a single seat variant and expects the modeler to carve up the fuselage to add the 262 Nightfighter parts. For that price, I feel it to be a bit much. Like all things, price is subjective. If you want the kit, then the $75 price you mentioned is OK. If you are looking to buy it to make a quick buck, I don't think so on this sale.

The same applies to the 1/32nd scale Fiesler Fi 156C Storch. The kit comes with the same parts and decals as the first release. Hasegawa simply added a small tree of skis.

For what its worth, I have both in my collection and I don't consider these to be among my rare kits.

erwin, mark, I would have thought the hase kit would have the correct fuse- IF the builder has to do the surgery does that put the Rev kit ahead of it? I've read that the basic shape is OK ;the 'pit is a little sparse , but hey for 20-25 bucks which puts you ahead? curious- mike in calif

Like all things, I guess it is simply a matter of how much are you willing to pay. For the modeler looking for some good detail out of the box, then Haseagwa is your best bet. Just be prepared to put a bunch of effort into it to see a completed project.

However, a nice two seat 262 can be built from the Revell kit for substantially less, though the outline isn't as good. It is a much simpler build, to be sure.

For the price, I just think it is rather outrageous to have to pay that amount of money for the Hasegawa kit and do all the modifications required. Hopefully, a "New Tool" 262 will be in the works as Hasegawa really seems to be producing a number of 1/32nd scale Luftwaffe subjects.

Just my two bits worth...

Hello Erwin,

Where did you see the kits? in Lier?

The two-seat 262 from hasegawa is a very rare beast in Europe. Some months ago I discussed with a modeller who used to make 1/32 kits for years and did not even know such a kit was released!

I bought mine in Canada last year!

Hello Thierry,

Yes it was at Lier,by the stand that was selling mostly big Tamiya Tank kits.Like the Tiger I on scale 1/16 th and other big ones !

The Me 262 kit was the high grade ,limited ed.

I was there too with a small stand ,selling some of my overstock,at a table with some tanks and 32 nd planes. And I wore a blue t-shirt with Oostende on it.

As on the comment from the other LSP members,I would like to add that the Revell kit comes no way near the Has kit. I build it a time ago,and to me it is the worst Revell kit I know !

( Chris, mabe an idea to make a list on good and bad kits )

BTW,I just build a Tony, and I have an unbuild Raiden at home .But I make all my models OOTB ,so nothing fancy.Just a nice hobby, you know.

The answer on the Fiesler was not clear to me. Does the Revell kit olso have the ski parts ??

Greetings,

Erwin

FYI: A Fiesler Storch w/ skis just sold on eBay for about $20 here in the US, so they are around. There always seems to be a couple on eBay, but I don't know how many include the skis. The one that just sold had a pic of the ski version on the boxtop is the only reason I know that one did.

Hi all,

I got a Revell 32 nd Storch today, and I can say that the parts for a ski version are olso in the kit.

To me it looks exactly like the Has kit,so there is no need to look for the special Has kit if you want to make a ski Storch.

I wonder why Revell used such a big box, there's room to put three models in it !!

I think it's a sales method to get the newcommers to buy a 'big' model.

Greetings,

Erwin
