Tips and techs

I know that there are many builds out there showing how we put these dump trucks together, but was woundering if any out there have any tips that we can put together for when builders have problems or ways to save from having problems. Back a few years ago I built plenty of Tamiya's F-4 kits for CAM, doing QC and decal placements, most on the site. I found several tips building these beast, most of us have shared from time to time, The WIP section is great for looking at good tips from others. One tip I use when building Tamiya's F-4 is to cut the splitter plates off, this helps get a good paint covering behind them, instead of trying to work the paint in there when they are on, real tight! Cutting them off and glueing them back on after painting really helped. Just a little tip that might help. Any of you think a TIP thread might be helpfull? Just a thought.

I think it would be a great idea, as i know i'm going to have a billion questions on my build! maybe pin a thread at the top of this GB that people could add too during the builds until the GB is over and then maybe convert it into a tweak thread at the end? I know Thierry Laurent and Ben Brown did a bunch of tweak lists (in the Market section) on both the tamiya and Revell kits that i'll be using. We have one of the best resources in the modeling world at our disposal here.. our members and their knowledge. Let's exploit it! :evil_laugh:

I found cutting the Horizontal stabs in half (at the pivot point in the fuselage) connecting the additional plate to the tail and sanding down the left over mount point.... made it easier to paint and install the horizontal tails. Test fit twice sand and cut once!

Is there a replacement nose for Revells Phantom available?

If -just in case- I build an F-4 than a Revell one, but that radom issue sounds like a major one. For all other misshaped parts are replacements available (to name cockpit, landing gear, external stores), but I am not aware of a resin nose cone.

If not I should go with a RF one...
