If anyone knows where I can find the VVS stars big enough for this kit, please let me know (I remember someone built this kit in different VVS markings and had custom decals made). Six months and the countdown begins.

Rich

Maybe eyeball the size and paint the stars through a mask?

Ryan,

Thanks for the suggestion. That's what I'll need to do if I can't find any. I have the actual size for the stars, so I know how big they need to be in scale. The largest produced stars I've found so far are the IL-2 HB decals, but they are just a little too small! :hmmm:

How big do they need to be Rich?

Hi, Kev.

My resource tells me the wing stars have a 55" diameter or 1.72" in scale. The fuselage stars are 50" diameter or 1.56".

Thanks.

Hey!  What is that set of aftermarket props that are sitting in the box?

I could use a couple of sets;

one for my Aurora, and one for my HKM B-25's.

Thanks,

Mike

But you might want to try PMing Harald from AMS here on the site and see if he has access to any more

Thanks for answering, Brian. Relish models also makes a replacement set, but they are also "out of stock" at the moment.

Sorry for hijacking the OP's thread, but "Thanks" for the heads up and helping a fellow modeler out.

I'll check into this set further,

and good luck with your build!

Very cool!

Wasn't there an aftermarket set of VVS decals available for this kit, or am I dreaming?

Did a quick search and I may have been thinking of the 1/48 set from Authentic Decals. However, I did find this thread: http://forum.largesc...showtopic=43383

Thanks for the thread. It looks like the person that was going to do the masks is banned from this site. I sure could have used the stars. It looks like I'll need to make my own masks.

OK. As I'm holding the kit in my hands, I'm seeing it as a PBJ-1 instead of a VVS. Anyone following this thread have an opinion on which of the two they would like to see me build?
