MiG-3 Spinner and Prop from Fusion Models

Hi all!

I am happy to present the latest release from Fusion Models, a resin spinner and prop set for the Trumpeter MiG-3 kit. This kit is quite nice, with few flaws. The most notable for me is the propeller which is incredibly thick. The spinner can also be improved by correcting the position of the panel line and rivets.

Here are the original kit parts:

And a comparative view showing the much thinner prop blade and the new spinner. Note the presence of raised and engraved rivets.

The new propeller blades also have slightly more rounded tips, as I observed when studying various photos. The Fusion part is at top.

Here is the complete set:

I have taken much care to design the set so it will be very easy to assemble. Each blade fits in a slot insuring correct angle and pitch. No drilling or jig is required.

At the back, a pin is of the exact diameter to fit in the corresponding hole at the front of the fuselage.

The MiG-3 is one of my favorite WWII fighters, with its racer looks. This set will certainly improve the appearance of the Trumpeter kit with little extra effort. I have given a set of the parts to my graphic artist today and he should complete the instruction sheet at the end of the week.

Any comments or questions are welcome.

Thank you in advance for your interest!

Regards,

Hi all!

That looks fantastic, Alain! Can you tell us where and how to order it, and how much it will be?

Kev

The price of the set will be $14.50 USD, and I will update you as soon as possible as to where it will be available. I glad you like it Kev, I worked hard to get the shapes right.

Very nice indeed. I've considered grabbing the Trumpeter kit for some time now, and this looks like a great addition.

The Trumpeter kit is quite nice actually, and the problems in the cockpit area have been shown in a very interesting build by "Hacker" here in LSP.

Well done!  Looks fantastic Alain.

Troy

Thank you Troy!

Nice job Alain! I'm in for a set!

Good! You haven't built one yet Andre? Great looking plane and see the Soviet Warplanes site for camo options.

Looks good!  My question as to what was wrong with the OOB part now answered

Thanks.I think the spinner and mostly the prop are the only big deceptions in this kit. The rest is some overdone rivets in places but this can be filled/sanded down and some improvements in the cockpit area as mentioned above.

Wish this had been available when I built mine - prop in the kit is one of the things I spent the most time trying to improve - kit blades are very chunky!

Looks really good.

Iain

Thanks Iain! I ordered this kit around Christmas and this problem was obvious upon opening the box. I immediately decided to fix this with this new set. Sorry it is too late for you...

I did one in 1/48 with one of your prop, but in 1/32 I was looking on the net to get a nice paint scheme and found one on the Soviet Warplanes site, so all I need now is a good prop!

Good news!

The set will be available from Ultracast next week as well as the new Soviet Hex Tarmac Sections released previously. When I get the instruction sheets for the MiG-3 next week end, I will ship them their order immediately.

The 1/48 set for the ICM kit was a big improvement too, and I am looking forward to see your 1/32 MiG!

Wow!

The job you've done with that unit now suddenly makes me interested in buying another Trumpeter kit!

I really like that bird's race-plane look.

Thanks! It is to me one of the most exciting looking WWII planes. And it is great value for the money even with the resin prop and spinner set.

I will keep you posted when the sets actually ship next week.

Regards,

Alain

Again, they will also have the new Hex bases in stock, so see if you have a MiG or Sukhoi that needs to be parked somewhere!

Alain
