Jerry Rutman Closes his doors

I got this statement from JR tonight. I am sure I speak for all of us here when I say its a sad day indeed for large scale planes.

I am now closed. I can't take another breath of resin fumes. It is making me

sick just to think of it! All of my outstanding orders have either been sent

out and are en route or are cast and ready to be mailed. I am worn out men!

I must give a big Thank You to all of the guys that have supported my

efforts up till now and I hope you have a great time building models. Maybe

in the near future I will recover enough of my love of building models that I

may actually get to build one. This would be the first one in about 3 years.

It would be nice to have my hobby back. I will of course still lurk on the

websites. Rock on dudes!

JR

I will be be shutting down the Rutman website this week.

Thanks for the clarification JR, LSP wishes you all the best in whatever you do, especially getting back to building.

Sad, sad start into a new modelling year. Have used some of his stuff f.e. for my Jugs, will be hard to get quality resin aftermarket parts in "Rutman-Quality" in future. So sorry ´bout that, all the best to Jerry

Well, that screws me but good, I've been saving up for months to buy a couple of hundred dollars worth of Jerry's Detail kits for my Luftwaffe subjects only now to find that he's gone under. I can't scratchbuild these items as I only have one hand. Well I guess all that's left for me to do now is to sell them or just pitch them into the trash, as I'll never be able to do them the justice that they deserved, especially the Bf-110's, he was the only one that made the cockpits & wheel bays for them. The two P-38's will have to go also. Truly a sad day, especially for us handicapped modelers.

Good luck Jerry, in whatever endeavors you choose to do, me, I just may give up modeling after 31 years.

Ron

Try the traders board, people might have some they want to sell.

Micro-Mark has some great tools/supplies that can really help (I've found some items and will be ordering more), their link is in our link/manufacturers section.

Ron,

Don't give up! This is a great time to be modeling. There surely will be someone to step up to the plate, either with correction sets or multimedia kits, like JR was doing, or full injection kits like Hasegawa, Trumpeter and AMTech. (I thought I would NEVER see a 1/32 P-39, and now that dream may become a reality!)

Just a couple years ago I was sulking at the proposition of building the same kits I built 25 years ago, simply in different schemes.

Now I can't keep up with all the new releases and I have enough new kits to last 5 years, not counting everything that will be released new in that five year period.

Trumpeter just came out with a new P-38 and someone will come out with the stuff you need for the 110. That is one kit that Revell hasn't re-released in a while and if they do, I'm sure some resin goodies will come out for it.
