Fiat G.91 R3 - Dayglo Models

Little breathtaking after the scratch marathon.

Only little progress today:

Time to care about the canopy. Canopy is made of clear resin and looks impressive: Clear and thin!

The casting block made me think that the canopy is nearly as thick as the casting block is - but it is of perfect thickness!

Removed the casting blocks, polished the clear parts using car polishing and then coated them with Future.

Spent some time to do some dryfitting:

2 mm thick!

The wheel well - pictured from front to rear.

As you can see from my whitened fingernails - I had to do some pressure to put the wheel well into the fuselage.

What to do now? Can I live with that thickness? Would I always see THIS when looking on the model once it is finished?

Should I go the hard way and thin the fuselage???

On the other side: The wheel well is underneath the wings and one cannot see it, unlike some other wheel wells as Tornado, A-7, MiG 23...

I have to think it over....

Thanks for stopping by

Reimund, Alex and anybody interested on.

I found an italian modeler society website where there are many pictures about the restoration of a G91. I think useful.

  • 1 month later...

After some days break, here´s a little progress.

I tried to update the otherwise rather empty wheel wells.

Thanks to Tiberio´s walkaround pics, I did a lot wiring unsing copper, lead, rods, tubes and lead foil.

Next is the landing gear which is made of brass with high hevel detailing.

Comparing to Tiberios pics they just need some wiring here and there.
