Hi guys,

I have decided to build this superb blue-silver bird, while working on the Stearman.

My plan is to build it OOB, with polished and clean finish.

I briefly looked at the history of this machine on web and collected all photos I was able to find

but still do not have any photo of cockpit, so appreciate any help or advice

here are some photos of kit content and details, build photos will follow in upcoming days

some pictures

I started with the main wing. Glued with hph epoxy, quite easy since there is no dihedral

cockpit assembly is straightforward. I do not have any reference for interior so I will keep instructions. this includes color reference as well
I did not even bother to correct errors which will not be visible after the hull will be closed.

Instructions speaks of silver paint inside the hull. So I have painted all fabrics with plain GSI silver and all metal parts with Alclad airframe aluminium to differentiate it.

Interior details painted with silver and Alclad dural aluminium and airframe aluminium.

cowling and wheel spats inside painted with white aluminium

Very nice, but are you sure the throtthle quadrant was on the right side ? My understanding is that the untold standardisation of the times was to place the throttle controls on the left ...

I was wondering the same thing Hubert

but I do not have any reference picture for the cockpit so I am just following instructions

the throtthle is located on right side, but It could be just mistake in instructions diagrams, I can still move it to the left side

thanks for the comment  :)  really apreciate

I think it is a mistake of the instructions. Although I did not find specific pics of the F3-B cockpit, all other contemporary cockpits of Boeing products I looked at (not to mention other plane makers) have the throttle quadrant on the left side.

Very cool !

I almost started the kit a few months ago (began to fondle the parts !), and also noticed that in the instructions about the throttle on the right side. After a bit of search on google (it was not easy as i was not able to find any picture of the cockpit interior) i came to the conclusion that the throttle should be on the left side, and it is an error in the instructions.

thanks guys for watching and kind words

here is just small update

I managed to finish cockpit, added just some wires and did some weathering t create some variations, cause the cockpit is basic and empty

and this was last time I have used PE setabelts. Im not able to achieve nice results with it, so will use or scratch all seatbelts from fabric in future
