Shaka HI
What a cool technique. Very nice results -- but I might redo it as it doesn't seem random enough on one of the blades. (And use much lighter shades of the grey...it's much too subtle.) Edited June 20, 2016 by Shaka HI Zero77 and BradG
Brian79
I gluedthe upper wings to the fuselage first and got a perfect joint, but the area between the the fuselage and gear on the leading edge still takes some care. Prepare for some putty around the rear window to fuselage joints. Keep up the good work! BradG and Shaka HI
mikeblack
It's really great following your progress, Shaka. Your build is coming along very nicely indeed Mike Shaka HI
BloorwestSiR
Very nice progress Shaka. I haven't tried the salt technique myself so maybe I can learn something from you Carl Edited June 21, 2016 by BloorwestSiR Shaka HI
Shaka HI
Definitely losing steam...work and lately, very NICE weather slows me down, but working the small parts for an hour or so do help. I tried the salt technique with the prop spinner -- this is actually my 3rd attempt. I kept using finer grains of salt from the grinder. And Olive Drab is very hard to gauge -- the gloss clear coat completely obfuscates its "intensity" vs in dull/flat form...and I'm still working the seams. LSP_Kevin
Looks great, Shaka! I think you've got some nicely subtle weathering going on there. Kev Zero77 and Shaka HI

KUROK
Yeah, I'm with Kev! In a world of grotesque overdone weathering, it's nice to see a nice subtle job like yours... Shaka HI
Shaka HI
Thanks gents...minor update, but still a lot of hours of very careful work. Sand, fill, sand, seal with CA and sand. Re-scribe/re-rivet. The mini UMM scriber is a god-send. Highly recommended! BradG, TorbenD and KUROK
TorbenD
Loving the look of this build Shaka - 3rd time on the prop was definitely worth it too. I can also see my mini tool cabinet getting a shiny new addition... or two... or three! Torben Shaka HI
mozart
Seems like this isn't an easy ride for you Shaka but you're sticking in there and dealing with the problems, and that's what modelling's all about isn't it? Stiff upper lip and all that old chap!! Max Shaka HI
Shaka HI
Really, ain't that bad, Max. Seam filling is somewhat therapeutic...I think? But, I definitely like painting/weathering, more than building -- that's for sure.
mozart
Weathering! I seem to remember two Spitfires ago when weathering was a bit of a black art to you Shaka!? Max Shaka HI
Shaka HI
I've been practicing on smaller bits on the subject and on 1/48 subjects in my stash that I will never complete, Max!
BloorwestSiR
Looks like you're making some decent progress there Shaka. Are you going to spray an interior green as your base coat? Carl
