Now build her again in her final colors:

That how she was at Midway, her last scheme was like this,

I must say that I was quite tempted by the Midway scheme, but really wanted the look of those big early rondels.

Great work! This is really lovely. The paint work and weathering are spot on!

Thanks Brian,

I didn't want to dirtied her too much, think I got just the right balance!

Beautyful, great job on that chipping, have to try it myself, sooner or later, looking really great...

Thanks,

It's a bit scary at first like "What if it doesn't work and I get stuck with it". "How do I get rid of it without ruining the model?".

But it came out real nice! The next time I will do it in two step with a clear coat between the layers.

Very nice!

Thanks Gaz,

Much apreciated, next I think that with all the leftover from the kit, I'll put them in the Matchbox one and do an NZ SBD-5!

Absolutely beautiful and as the others said, I can't remember having seen a better Dauntless model yet. Hats off!!

Thanks Lothar,

So you think that I have a chance with her in a contest?

Love it!! Came out exceptional.

Thanks Gerhard,

The final look of her is quite pleasing I must say! Kept the weathering to a minimum, I don't like dirty birds but just with a touch of service life.

I know she wore other colors after Midway, but it seems the scheme she's in currently will be her last as I don't see PNAS repainting her.

I really hesitated between the big rondels and Midway, since Midway was the SBD big feat, but the appeal of those big rondels won!

They left a sanded spot on the vertical so you can see the lemon yellow of her pre-war years.

Cheers
