It looks like a VERY early piece from the program described here:

http://www.afspc.af....eam-that-faded/

Since you live in DC, maybe take it to the Smithsonian for evaluation before doing anything else with it?

D

Yeah, off to NASM.  I have a few connections there.  :)

Now, if it turns out to be a prototype for a top secret military weapon, how long will you get locked up for....

It sort of looks like one of the early Rockwell contracted designs. In the Bill Woods video I linked, you can see a number of similarities between a number of the concept models he shows off.

that yellow model (17:30) clearly a General Dynamics is a very close rendering.

Thanks for the link.

This model is one part of a 3 part launch system concept from the mid to late 60's.

Trimase Reusable Launch Vehicle/Spacecraft as envisioned by Convair Division of General Dynamics.

Neat!   Personally I would leave that original one completely alone, untouched. I might try to see if I could case it as Shawn mentioned, then make 3 copies and display it as above, with or without the original.

I just get the feeling it would be better not to mess with the original

Very interesting; don't touch it and put it in a safe spot.  Little piece of history there.

Rick,

WOW... just seen this ... amazing history in your hands.

Thank you for sharing.

Have you still got it.
Or did you donate it to the Smithsonian.
