Tomek
Ufff... finally! It took me a little bit more than I've anticipated, but the Airacobra is done. My first completed WIP on the forums! http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/yahoo.gif A quick kit/model recap. The kit was published by KW Model and it depicts an airplane with numbers K 41-38359. It's in 1:33 scale and includes quite a deal of details - definitely more than I felt comfortable with. I used some after market offered by the publisher in the build: laser-cut formers, canopy and high resolution instrument panel printed on photo paper. From myself I added the seatbelts, navigational lights and the front wheel fork. The difficulty level of the kit was a challenge as I predicted in the beginning and unfortunately I failed in few places. I tried for the first time to do subtle weathering based on some techniques I've learned here on the forums! You can see the WIP thread here. Few more pics in the next post... Out2gtcha
Great stuff Tomek and congrats! You should be very pleased............I know lots of injections builds that dont turn out 1/4 as realistic as your paper one did. WELL done man, well done. Cheers, Brian
LSP_Kevin
Tomek, that has to be one of the most amazing paper models I've seen (except for maybe that lady who does the ships). I can see none of the usual tell-tale signs of a paper model. A hearty congratulations from me! Kev

JCote
Tomek, I doff my hat to you, that is one amazing build. I think maybe one reason why your model is so realistic, apart from your considerable skill in putting it together, is that paper has better scale thickness than plastic, so that items like landing gear doors and cockpit walls look like they're made of aluminium rather than quarter-inch steel plate. What's your next project? Jean
PhilB
What's already been said! My perception, along with many others is how difficult a medium paper and card could be. You however, have shown us what's possible and produced a terrific result. It really is a brilliant model and looks stunning! Well done for overcoming the trials and tribulations I saw during the build. You should be very proud! Phil
dodgem37
Still looks flawless to me. Sincerely, Mark
TimW
Wow...a paper model! I'm blown away. I would never have had the nerve to tackle something like that. An excellent build of an oft-maligned, but important aircraft! Tim W.
OldTroll
Bravo! A marvelous kit in the hands of a master modeler; it doesn't get any better!

Tomek
Great stuff Tomek and congrats! You should be very pleased. Thanks Brian! I'm happy she's done although I have some regrets that somehow I haven't managed to avoid my common mistakes in the geometry of the airplane. That slightly twisted right wing bothers me ... Next time! Tomek, that has to be one of the most amazing paper models I've seen (except for maybe that lady who does the ships). I can see none of the usual tell-tale signs of a paper model. A hearty congratulations from me! Ahh, Doris, she's just ... sick, sick I tell'ya! Good she doesn't build airplanes because I would be looking for another hobby ... like knitting or something... Thanks Kevin for the compliments Wow, this is awesome, didn't realize at first it was a paper model (brand name didn't ring a bell....) Thanks Jack! You did it Tomek!......................you have got to be proud of that mate....It looks absolutly fantastic......and to think its a paper model! Hurry up and start another one Yup, I'm quite glad that I managed to finish her. Now I need few days to take better care of a family member who is visiting the city and then back to DH.6 in the GB section. The clock is ticking... Jean Thanks for looking in Jean! I think you right, there are some characteristics of paper models which may be superior to plastic (I hope I won't be burned for saying such heresy ), but it works the other way too. In many aspects plastic models can not be beaten. In the end I think it's just about what medium each of us prefers. First I'll try to finish my Multiwing GB entry then maybe Saiun? A Japanese airplane will be good a good subject to practice weathering, I think My perception, along with many others is how difficult a medium paper and card could be. Well done for overcoming the trials and tribulations I saw during the build. I think plastic models are difficult . All this painting, picking the right scheme, applying decals, masking, etc... Sometimes I get dizzy watching what you guys need to go through Thanks for comments and support during the build! Much appreciated Still looks flawless to me. Thanks Mark! I'm sure you could find one or two wrong things in her Wow...a paper model! I'm blown away. I would never have had the nerve to tackle something like that. An excellent build of an oft-maligned, but important aircraft! Thanks for looking in and compliments Tim . At least Russian liked it to some degree... For me P-39 it's simply a beautiful aircraft, even if with some serious shortcomings. Bravo! A marvelous kit in the hands of a master modeler; it doesn't get any better! Thanks Ron! I have still plenty of things to learn and my technique often has a lot to be desired. I hope with some experience I can build better models - at least without twisted wings, or screwed up symmetry . I didn't realize this was a paper model until I started reading the comments! Absolutely BRILLIANT!!! My hat is off to you sir. Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad you like it!
