DugyB Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) Ok, Count me in, Norway managed to get airborne about 7 Gladiators the day of the initial invasion of Norway. Managing to shoot down four Luftwaffe aircraft. Hopelessly outclassed they certainly put up a Herculean effort while winning the brass balls award. Pretty much all were wiped out. Now off to Hannants for a browse … Edited July 14 by DugyB Alain Gadbois, Telepatu, Azgaron and 8 others 11
mozart Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) I was privileged to visit the workshops of RetroTrack and Air in Dursley some years ago Dugy. Peter Watts, the owner, was restoring one of the Norwegian Gladiators which had been rescued from a fjord (or lake, can’t remember which). It had landed on ice and left there, eventually of course sinking. A few pics for you: Hope they’re of interest. (In the background is a Spitfire which I believed ditched in the Severn whilst on a training flight, my wife on the left, my friend Terry who sadly died last week, and Peter’s wife who treated us to a delicious afternoon tea in their library.) Stunning pics, I’ll be putting them to good use. I don’t have a single reference on hand, though I’ll be aiming for a simple build I still want to do my subject justice. Thanks mate mozart and Gazzas 1 1
Archimedes Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Phenomenal choice of subject Dugy Max - what a set of photos! Looking forward to this one! Kind regards, Paul DugyB and mozart 2
DugyB Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Started cutting plastic,, ICMs plastic is on the soft side so care is called for when cutting and sanding. Cockpit supplied looks pretty good, I’ll just to busy it up some to play it safe. Drilled out some holes and next I’ll figure out a different seat mount, not convinced the square doohickey thing attached to the floor assembly is accurate LSP_Kevin, BradG, Azgaron and 7 others 10
mozart Posted March 3 Posted March 3 The AIMS cockpit set 32PE12 is excellent Dugy if you’re interested: BradG, LSP_Kevin, Telepatu and 9 others 11 1
DugyB Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 Photos show what looks like a fuel tank between the engine and cockpit, even though not much can be seen it’ll still be better then a dark hole. So after digging through my pile of junk I found a C-130 nacelle which after cutting up has now become my fuel tank. LSP_Kevin, Rick Griewski, scvrobeson and 13 others 16

dennismcc Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Nice work, keep it up, by all accounts these are well designed kits and build up fine . Cheers Dennis
Archimedes Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Very nice work on an airframe I really admire. Those Norwegians really did have balls of brass too. @mozart - thank you for the photos of the restoration - that is a fascinating backstory too. Kind regards, Paul. DugyB 1
DugyB Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 Not sure how accurate this is, as some pics online show it installed and others don’t …. I’m starting to add some detail to the cockpit so scratched a map holder … Landrotten Highlander, TankBuster, scvrobeson and 6 others 9
