dennismcc Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 That looks a rather small extinguisher for the case of an engine fire, great photo though, I like the inprint of the PSP on the tyre. Cheers Dennis LSP_K2, Alain Gadbois, Martinnfb and 1 other 4

A poor quality TV “screen grab” which shows the port side fuselage vents well: More later. Super progress Max, those wing root joints look extremely good indeed! More than can be said for my copy but hot water and filler will get that sorted! Superb picture you've posted there of the air intake with the ground crew waiting to ambush the cuckoo when he makes his appearance Regards Andy mozart and Martinnfb 1 1
mozart Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 Thanks Andy, there’s a lot of work going on “behind the scenes” at the moment which isn’t worth a photograph yet. My intention is to recreate the picture of the Typhoon taking off, so there’s the perennial problem of “spinning” props, or not! For photographic purposes I want my prop to be able to spin freely so I’m spending a lot of time with brass tubing, drilling accurate holes, getting things aligned and “manufacturing” a system which holds it all together because as you’ll know, as supplied the MDC model doesn’t have the option. A progress pic or two very soon…..not pretty! Greif8 and Martinnfb 2
mozart Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 It’s all rather clunky, but it’s fit for purpose: The spinner was a little too small in diameter so I added a “backplate”! It will look something like this: And aligned as well as I can get it. Alain Gadbois, Phantom2, monthebiff and 13 others 16
dennismcc Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Nice one Max, problem solved. Cheers Dennis Martinnfb and mozart 1 1
Dpgsbody55 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Nice. Whatever works best . Cheers, Michael Martinnfb and mozart 1 1

mozart Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 The break away from the bench and my Tiffie has been beneficial because when I sat down this afternoon I’d forgotten all the little “problems” of positioning and alignment that had me worried and procrastinating. So….straight in: IP in place, pilot comfortably seated, harness straps added (though yet to be painted to match the moulded ones), cockpit assembly glued in, ditto the radiator. One or two bits to paint in the cockpit but I have no intention of detailing it. But does it all fit: Fortunately, yes: This is a dry fit, tomorrow will be “the real thing”! I don’t stand a chance of finishing before D-Day, but I’ll do the best I can. denders, Alain Gadbois, LSP_Kevin and 14 others 17
Martinnfb Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 I will start with a picture Needless to say, that your pilot loos uber real Max. I really like your building style and problem solving approach. Joy to follow your progress sir. Cheers Martin
mozart Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 Shiny balls eh Martin…..interesting pic, kind of existential going on into infinity! Thanks for your comments, yes I love a build that presents me with some thought-provoking dilemmas, must be my masochistic streak! Significant progress today I hope!
dennismcc Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 He certainly looks cosy in there, nice one. Cheers Dennis mozart 1
mozart Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 (edited) The plunge is plunged! I really wasn't looking forward to joining the two fuselage halves together because there were so many lumps that had to align and or engage, but I think over all it went quite well: Heavily clamped whilst the epoxy sets. Inevitably there were seam gaps that need filling but nothing too horrendous. Still WiP with that aspect but: And what's this......another Typhoon...... The Revell car-door type that has been sitting on the SoD for some years has elbowed itself into contention. It's not all good news though! The horizontal tailplanes are slightly out of square....can I live with that? How difficult a fix is it?* And the kit has two port elevators! The instructions oddly call them "flaps" and states "not handed"....but they need to be because of the trim tab actuators. Not too difficult to remedy but a rather peculiar situation. Oh, and the lengths that I went to in order to get a centred prop which will spin nicely have failed, the brass insert isn't in the centre so it's back to the drawing board with that one. Ah well, wouldn't life be boring if it was all plain sailing? * Further careful inspection seems to show that everything is "square" but there may be a twist in the fuselage. Hmmm. LSP_Kevin Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Lovely work, Max! Looking like a Typhoon now. And if it were me, I'd definitely be finishing off the Revell kit! Looks great from here. Kev mozart and MikeC 1 1
mozart Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 Thanks Kev, and you’re right, t’other Tiffie will be finished to sit alongside this one. LSP_Kevin 1
