I really hope someone like Kotare, ZM or HKM does a new tool LSP P-51B.

It's got to be one of the most popular subjects out there that does not currently have a good (or available) LSP version.

That and the late variants of the Corsair

I think the GWH P40 is the top of the mark for that version, but

way overpriced. A Hellcat would likey be (read:maybe)to a similar standard, but again, just too expensive.

You mileage will vary, of course.

I'll believe it when I see it , been hearing the same old song and dance now for nearly 3 years ,though I know it takes a while to get this stuff done. I certainly hope it makes the light of day.

Agreed. The 1970s Hasegawa kit is still arguably the best kit of a Hellcat. Not much of an endorsement of a newer company, but there it is.

What's wrong with the Trumpeter kit? Just curious.

Shape looks good and it has a folded wings option, essential for a Navy aircraft (unless you want to hang it from the ceiling). The Hasegawa kit looks like a pretty featureless blob of plastic to me, so I must be missing something.

The wings are quite good but the fuselage is far too fat in cross section. If you look at the windshield, you will see how it is too large in width. Currently the best option is asking for joining the Trumpeter wings and the Hasegawa fuselage.

Thanks for your constructive response Thierry. I don't want one enough to buy two kits (though the Trumpeter NF version looked appealing — till now!). Am not that familiar with propellery things but do like the classic metal monoplanes.

HMH Publications /Duke Hawkins books will come up with a Bf 109K-4 book at the release of the Kotare kit. 100 or so photos of different K-4, a lot of color profiles and so on. Also with a set of large scale decals for the K-4, a la the Hurricane set.

They can easily be purchased for $100 with shipping on evilbay.  Based on the contents of the box I don't think that's over priced.
