Furie Posted May 10, 2024 Author Posted May 10, 2024 (edited) Thank you for your messages Alain, Paolo, Max, TankBuster, Alain and Håkan. Your encouragement makes me extremely happy and shows that I'm (finally, I think!) on the right track: continuing to enjoy myself, sharing my work with you, testing new techniques and finally making progress in building and painting my models. So there you have it, my Yak 9 is finished and ready to parade in the showcase, which looks quite big for its buddy the FW 190. A few photos taken outside today, with a big blue sky and the help of a modeler friend (Philippe/tcherno81). I look forward to your comments on my work, and thank you all for stopping by on this topic and leaving me a message. See you soon for a new model, with black crosses or roundel, I don't know yet! Denis See you soon with this Yak 9 on the RFI forum. Edited May 10, 2024 by Furie MikeMaben, Sasha As, Iain and 21 others 23 1
scvrobeson Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 That's a really awesome project Denis! What a build to be proud of here Matt Furie 1
Dpgsbody55 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 An excellent build. Well done. Cheers, Michael Furie 1
Biggles87 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 The relative simplicity of the finished item does not indicate how much work you have put into it, especially the painting and weathering. The spinner in particularly impressive. Bravo John Furie and Alain Gadbois 2
Furie Posted May 11, 2024 Author Posted May 11, 2024 Thanks Pierre, Håkan, Matt, Michael, John and Borsos. Indeed, I was quite surprised not by the complexity of the camouflage, but by the way it looked on the model. In the end, it's the “simplest” things that are the hardest to reproduce, without too many visible flaws and, above all, by trying to bring the camouflage "to life". That's what I tried to reproduce with this strange BB'ing on the wings and by varying the effects with different varnishes, semi-matte and matte. Thanks again for your messages. Shoggz Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Masterful finish Denis - what a beautiful model. I’m really looking forward to see what you tackle next! Furie 1
Furie Posted May 12, 2024 Author Posted May 12, 2024 Thank you Richard for your message. My future model flew over Holland or over the Balkans, I haven't decided yet... Shoggz 1
Shoggz Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Intriguing! I vote for an RAF or USAAF subject, as we haven't seen you tackle one of those yet. Biggles87 and Furie 1 1
Furie Posted May 13, 2024 Author Posted May 13, 2024 I've just ordered some paintings with “RLM XX” written on them, so I think, my dear Richard, that the action will take place over the Balkans and Romania in 1941.
Furie Posted May 14, 2024 Author Posted May 14, 2024 I think an Emil will show his nose very soon. With a crazy camouflage, as was often the case over the Balkans in those days... Shoggz 1
Iain Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 I missed this first time around - what a gorgeous result! Fabulous work Denis. Iain Furie 1
