Thank you all for your messages.
Today I took care of the two "60s".
If you look at the photos, you can see a thin border around the 6 and the 0 :

I decided, in agreement with myself, that this border was red like the star's border.
With this in mind, I placed the masks and painted them white, placed the internal masks and painted them red:

Unfortunately, the "60" on the right-hand side was completely wrong: the "60" was leaning backwards and the "60" was squinting between the white and red parts: I had no choice but to redo it entirely (You can see it clearly in the photo above.).

The right "60" completely redone:

@Furie well done with the 60’s!

Despite having to redo it on one side, you have done an excellent job with these! Thank you for posting the progress - I am enjoying this one very much.

Kind regards,

Paul

Thanks Mat, Mike, Biggles (we're almost neighbors, so we'll have to meet up!), Richard, Max, Håkan (your first name reminds me of a Swede I admired: Håkan CARLQVIST) and Paul.
I'm starting to gain confidence with these masks, but it's still a perilous exercise: I'm not allowed to make a mistake, but I made one anyway!
Fortunately, the repair on the right "60" is invisible.

Need I remind you that every time I have to set up concentric masks, I think fondly of Portland?  :)

Thanks Håkan for your message!

Today was mostly touching up and a bit of chipping under the plane.
As I had put tape on the front and back of the fuselage, it had made very sharp edges between the light blue and the 2 grays on the fuselage.
So I redid these delimitations with these 2 grays using the airbrush buse/needle 0.2mm, but without the mask.

One detail can be seen in the photos at the rear of the fuselage: a maintenance hole that is lighter than the light blue tint :

Under the wings and radiator I did a little chipping with blue MRP tint and white (50/50) and colored pencil.
I represented dirt with exhaust soot.
And I gloss varnished the underside of the wings, fuselage and horizontal stab.

I admire your skill and patience Denis, it’s a real pain when you de-mask something and realise straight away that it’s wrong….been there, done that! Tell me why you have gloss varnished?

Thanks Mat, Mike and Max.
It's true that the last phases after painting are still important and fun to do.

They give the paint "relief" and are also a sign that the finish line is near!
As for the gloss varnish, I still need to apply a dark wash to all the structural lines and rivets, and add a few effects with felt-tip pens.
The gloss varnish allows the wash to "glide" over all these "hollows" with great ease, and in the event of a mistake on my part, it protects the paintwork to a minimum if I have to remove these ageing effects.

And I almost forgot: the gloss varnish makes decals easier to apply.

Hi Denis , that hole is likely a lift jack tube. A tube on the bottom of the frame that they slide a rod thru

and use the ends of the rod to hold the tail up during gun sighting. Not that it matters. They may have

sealed them.

Hi Mike, and you're absolutely right.
This lifting hole was plugged on my photo, and this is confirmed by these 2 photos taken on a Yak 9 in a museum:

I placed some acrylic putty in these 2 holes and "closed" them. :)

Hey Jean-Marc, here you are!
As you can see, my Yak is progressing well!

If the stars are aligned (not the ones I made with masks, but the others...) and my chakras are open, I think I'll finish it next week!
