Telepatu Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 For this group build I selected the old Revell F4F-4 in Royal Navy colors, pretty much out of the box. Kit decals are for "That Old Thing", which I'm planning to build. I have some other projects on the table now, so the build will start later next year. Alain Gadbois Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Very curious about how this old kit holds up when assembled and painted! Alain Telepatu 1

Alain I builds into a nice model, I did one for 'In the Navy' Group Build, it's in the gallery if you want to check it out. Alain Gadbois and Telepatu 2

Checked out your build, looks really impressive for such a basic kit! The surface details make all the difference. Alain BradG and Telepatu 2
Phantom2 Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Nice kit, I built that almost 50 years ago! I do have really fond memories of this kit, but the wingfold mechanism worked only 2-3 times before it broke! Will follow your build! Stefan Telepatu and Erwin 2
Sabre F-86 Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Thanks for pointing out this kit. I just picked up a Trumpeter kit, and while I think Joe Foss was indeed a hero, the paint scheme is BOOOOORING. (First heard of him in a book I got as a kid, called Wings of Fame). I just picked up the Valiant book on the Wildcat, and the Martlet appeals. Won't say I'm in on this build, too many things on the go, but I may get in later. Telepatu 1
Erwin Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 I also have this planned as a possible build in the GB. Best is to build it with straight wings. Telepatu 1

Not strong enough to hold the weight. And they will fail when folding them several times. There's a build here on LSP... Edited December 14, 2023 by Erwin Panzerwomble, MikeMaben and Telepatu 2 1
Telepatu Posted June 4, 2024 Author Posted June 4, 2024 Well, D-Day is near and I have to concede this GB. Plenty of time, but life happened along the way... I did start the build in the spring, but I was lazy to upload pictures. Soon I decided that I won't be doing the folded wings even though that was the plan in the beginning. Then I decided that the landing gear was too flimsy so an in-flight display it will be. I haven't done that before so something new to learn here as well. I left the copyright texts under the wing just for the fun of it... 1969 it says. Cockpit got a quick and dirty processing, not much will be seen anyway under the pilot. For the in-flight mode I got some acrylic rods and glued it into a bolt and nut I primed the model with white, the plan was to paint the invasion stripes. This is the status now after priming. I'll try to finish it later and post more pictures in the WIP section. Br, Jani BradG, MikeMaben, Phantom2 and 3 others 6
LSP_Kevin Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 When you're ready, we can move your thread over to the WiP section Jani, which is preferable to starting a new thread, as it keeps the continuity of the build intact. Kev Telepatu 1
