Guys, thank you for the great comments!  Getting closer to done.  I must have worked on a dozen final touches on the 109.  Here are some of the cast:

Hopefully my humor isn't too inappropriate...

Hopefully I can finish tomorrow without any setbacks...   so close...

I once shipped a model to Perth on the other end of Australia.  Amazingly despite open canopy only one wheel was broken off.  I had to put a $hitload of effort into packaging.

Yeah. Most of the world don’t get Aussie humour, reckon they wouldn’t last 5 mins at a BBQ ….. :D

The plane is finished.  The figures are finished.  What isn't finished is the setup to bind figures and plane together.  To make a scene for this plane and ace.  But the plane is finished.  So i have completed the build within the allotted time period.  I will try to set up the scene and take final photos when the right lighting presents itself.

So here are the proofs:

First a series of cockpit closeups:

The shiny face of Galland's scope received a drop of flouro-light-hardened resin.  I'm happy how that turned out.

The final steps on the wheels was some grey-brown pigments lightly brushed off once dry.

They look a little tide-marked in these macro pics...   everything looks better without my glasses.

The tail wheel got the same treatment.

I might need to add a little paint to the canvas cover of the tail gear oleo....   *sigh*

The guns were painted dark gray and then covered with pencil lead.  Then the lead was polished with a silicon squeegee type thingamajig.

And if you don't want to mess around with tiny clear plastic parts for your formation lights...   that clear flouro light hardened resin is the cat's meow.

The engine got a couple of late touches.  Lastly was covering the propeller transmissions so I didn't lose the shiny metal effect while matte-coating the rest of the model.  And prior to that was weathering the exhausts with shades of pink, gray, brown and black.  Galland's plane used C3 fuel, which I imagine was less sooty than regular fuel.

And finally some overall shots.

That's a step up from your last Revell one, esp with that crazy PE canopy and the precise paint effects.

A yellow nosed Emil is a thing of beauty and this is surely that too in spades .

Looking forward to the full scenario in due course.

Thank you, Guy.  The lighting looks right for a photo op...  hopefully I can get it set up before the rain.

Looks wonderful Gary.  Beautifully painted and detailed.  Little things like the turned tail wheel add so much to the display.

Cheers,

Michael
