EBay Now Very Expensive For 1/32 Model Stuff?!

Hmm.  I went to that maybe six months ago, there was a line of several hundred wrapped around the building to get in.  There was a great variety of kits, and the prices were pretty decent, but I didn't find anything that I had to have.

I had not been to one in several years and went just to check it out.  The stormy weather probably impacted attendance but there were lots of vendors.  The kits I bought were models I built as a kid and have great box art, but aren't serious contenders when it come to accuracy.

It's gotten very expensive for anyone looking at 1/20 F1 cars as well. Some of the Tamiya and Fujimi kits have gotten high, and the Hasegawa ones are absolutely ridiculous.

I have been looking at a number of Tamiya kits in 1/24 as well and those seem to be getting more expensive too.  i kind of think across the board Tamiya kits have gone up in cost in the second hand market.

They (Tamiya kits) certainly seem to hold their value well. While it's still sort of new, I can't seem to touch the Tamiya 1:48 F-14A for any less than $90 or so. Needless to say, I won't have one at that price.

There are deals here and there, I want to say I got mine on ebay for that or less including shipping.  I have one on the shelf, a F-14 carrier scene version just went in that price range as I am looking for that one.  I picked up a Carrier deck section at a hobby show last fall and now am looking to do a launch dio as Reed Oak does the pilots for it.  Also of note the carrier deck version has the parts to make early mid or late F-14 as it has various panels and two or more Beaver tails.  Put a watch list on the f-14 and you will get alerts then when someone drops a good best offer grab it.  Most complaints about prices on ebay although prices are up, in the end are a product of wanting it now vs waiting until what you want comes along at a better price.  I keep watch notifications on the kits I am looking for and I get a deal eventually.

I wanted the Kazan dynamics landing gear set for for the F-14A, out of production, I put a saved search and just got my landing gear set last week for $40.00 including shipping.

Not just models.  I have a few beer advertisements and neons in my basement. I was looking through those and got some surprising prices for old light ups from a beer brand I’ve never heard of. I guess it must have been the sellers favorite with the price he had.  But also noticing a trend of starting prices really high and no BIN offered.

Sorry to ask: What means "BIN"?

^^ what he wrote :)

Although i don't ebay very much there is a local equivalent that works just the same.

Although this does not work all the time, and you do run the risk of things getting more and more expensive. ;)

Oh yea, so many ads are way over hyped and flat out lies. The way I see it, if the seller is telling a lie in the description, I cannot trust them and simply move on.

I agree, I have been looking around and it has gotten expensive! It is useful for getting some OOP Hasegawa stuff. What I noticed now since I used ebay years ago, was that shipping seems to be $25-$30 plus! Even when it says it ships from my same state. Usually the shipping cost negates the advantage of a cheaper kit sadly and I end up either finding it on a hobby website or just my local store. For me, ebay will mostly be reserved for finding those oddball kits and ones that are out of production.

Funnily enough I saw that one yesterday when looking to see if there were any around after recalling it came with all the parts to build pretty much any of the Hasegawa P-40 series.

Whilst on the subject of eBay madness though I once had listed a Tamiya 1/48 F-14A and a raft of extra bits and pieces and listed it with a very reasonable Buy it Now price just to get it sold and create room in the stash for something else that will likely never be built but lo and behold 3 people got involved in a bidding war and I watched as the item sent sailing past the Buy it now price and sold for almost twice as much as one of the clowns could have had it for. I have since had similar happen but not to that extent.
