WW II Spitfire map light Q

Hi guys,

Here's a quick question for you. Were map lights used in wartime Spitfires? 

 

I've seen a heap of photos showing map lights installed but it's tough to know whether these are WW II era or contemporary, restored airframes.

 

I'm tarting up the cockpit of an Airfix 1/24th Mk IX and a couple of map lights would add visual business and interest.
