Fuselage is together so quite a bit pf progress - will try and get some photos later.

But, does anyone have any photos - or pointers to photos - showing the top front area of the Gladiator fuselage around the oil tank?

Lots of photos from the sides (understandably) - but nothing I've found so far showing that area from above...

I'm afraid I was on a bit of a roll - so didn't have time to photograph the interior before assembly - but I'm very pleased with the result.

Some levers to add - such as throttle levers, but they'll be added after the lower wing is on and any joints blended.

Interior courtesy of ICM, AIMS, Quinta, Airscale (wonderful Sutton Harness) and 3D printed radio by me...

Note the glued/unglued oil tank insert - I'll come back to that...

A little filler and sanding required on the lower fuselage insert, and a couple of sink marks - nothing major.

And with rear canopy dry fitted - I'm quite pleased with how that radio area now looks, compared to the flat shelf in the kit.

I've also had a 'batch assembly' session - gluing components together so they can be dry when a get a suitable moment for a sanding session.

And the wings - after sorting the seams I'll drill all the rigging holes...

Maybe a little more progress over the weekend, we'll see...

Cheers Tom.

Still after any photos showing the upper fuselage cut out around the oil tank from above, if anyone has any pointers?

Awesome looking Gladiator. I just picked up the kit to do my own build, so I'll be taking notes.

Let me check the Kagero 3D book to see if it has the pictures you need.

The Kagero book that I have has CAD renderings of the oil tanks and their latches, what exactly are you looking for Iain?

Matt

Hi Matt,

It was mainly how the fuselage panels fit around the tank - I got the tank too flush with the fuselage surface when I first bonded in place, so ended up cutting it out and having to clean up the opening for it - and the tank.

Most photos just show the sides.

Whoa, those pics are pretty awesome to study, I only just sprayed the front front engine wing a dark burnt metal, thinking its way to dark, now I need to adjust my thinking 🤔
