Iain Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 Fuselage is together so quite a bit pf progress - will try and get some photos later. But, does anyone have any photos - or pointers to photos - showing the top front area of the Gladiator fuselage around the oil tank? Lots of photos from the sides (understandably) - but nothing I've found so far showing that area from above... Iain
Iain Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 I'm afraid I was on a bit of a roll - so didn't have time to photograph the interior before assembly - but I'm very pleased with the result. Some levers to add - such as throttle levers, but they'll be added after the lower wing is on and any joints blended. Interior courtesy of ICM, AIMS, Quinta, Airscale (wonderful Sutton Harness) and 3D printed radio by me... Note the glued/unglued oil tank insert - I'll come back to that... A little filler and sanding required on the lower fuselage insert, and a couple of sink marks - nothing major. Back in a mo... Iain Alain Gadbois, Uncarina, BradG and 12 others 15
Iain Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 Some closer shots of the 'pit: And with rear canopy dry fitted - I'm quite pleased with how that radio area now looks, compared to the flat shelf in the kit. Back in another mo... Iain BradG, DugyB, Fanes and 13 others 16
Iain Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 I've also had a 'batch assembly' session - gluing components together so they can be dry when a get a suitable moment for a sanding session. Some of the Engine parts: Misc. assemblies: Part of the cowl and the oil cooler: And the wings - after sorting the seams I'll drill all the rigging holes... Maybe a little more progress over the weekend, we'll see... Blue Skies, Iain MikeMaben, BradG, geedubelyer and 12 others 15
Uncarina Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Looking really good Iain! Those interior details and colors show up nicely. Cheers, Tom Iain 1
Iain Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 Cheers Tom. Still after any photos showing the upper fuselage cut out around the oil tank from above, if anyone has any pointers? Iain
scvrobeson Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Awesome looking Gladiator. I just picked up the kit to do my own build, so I'll be taking notes. Let me check the Kagero 3D book to see if it has the pictures you need. Matt Iain 1
Dpgsbody55 Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Good work so far. The cockpit looks very good and the radio lifts it noticeably too. Cheers, Michael Iain 1
scvrobeson Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 The Kagero book that I have has CAD renderings of the oil tanks and their latches, what exactly are you looking for Iain? Matt Iain 1

Matt Hi Matt, It was mainly how the fuselage panels fit around the tank - I got the tank too flush with the fuselage surface when I first bonded in place, so ended up cutting it out and having to clean up the opening for it - and the tank. Most photos just show the sides. Iain scvrobeson 1
