Airfix 1\24 Spitfire MkIX upgrades?

Hello A!i, just wondering if you had any plans for upgrades for this new model? I'd like to request brass undercarriage legs, particularly the tailwheel leg, which would be great if it were poseable. I'd be happy to lend you parts from my kit if you require. Also some treaded tyres would be great. And a nice brass or resin undercarriage control lever would be a good improvement too.

What do you think?

Kind regards

I have plans to hopefully do a few sets / upgrades / conversions for this kit, amongst them are the undercarriage.
If I go the brass route they will only be available mid to end February, as the casters close soon and only re-open 2nd week in January, then it takes about 6 weeks till I receive stock of the parts.

However I am looking to see if I can develop some undercarriage parts without having to rely on the brass casters, I am currently doing some trials using specialised 3D resins, and doing various blends of those, if successful they should work out more cost effective and have better details and features.

I could think of many things but to try and keep it sensible, 3 spoke wheels for post war aircraft. And a generic 1/24 decal sheet with wartime and post war roundels, serials etc.

No chance on either of these I am afraid Jon, decals is a fast way to loose money…..ask me I know, especially at this scale. If I do decals they will be specific to a model and or type etc.

As for wheels every man and his dog / 3D printer will have them out soon.

That's perfectly understandable Alistair. At the end of the day I need to understand commercial considerations. Barracuda Cast sometimes does wheels in this scale and may take up the Gauntlet. Yes its definitely a nice scale ^_^!

On the other hand Alistair, are you sure you would not consider a MK 21 conversion,  Mk14 griffon cowling, laminar flow wings, extended rudder and contra prop option of course.

Just a thought  !

Not a problem, for those, should have them in mid January

hello Alistair alas no sooner than we spoke 3 spoke wheels appeared on the Hannants website and an E-wing conversion is hopefully heading my way.

Would just like to say happy Christmas and a peaceful modelling new year to all on LSP and indeed the wider world.

However for those who who are hopping don't expect a Tamiya 1/32 kit any decade soon:huh: !
