New 1/32 Spitfire XIVe conversion on the way

As for kit compatibility, I don't see why it wouldn't work for all of Tamiya's Spitfire kits. Perhaps others can chime in with more details.

I think the only issue would be the height of the fuselage where it meets the vertical tail. The XVI would be lower than either the VIII or IX kits. The VIII kit also would have the retractable tail wheel assembly as part of the fuselage but that could be a non-issue depending on where the new tail gets grafted on.

I think I read that once he's done with the XVI conversion, he'll do another one specific to the VIII and IX kits.

Here's the latest update from our friend on Facebook, and a few photos he posted as well:

"Happy new year SpitFans, may 2023 brings you happiness, health, … and a few Spitfires on your bench.

The new year break has been great but I still have managed to add some outfits to the model.

The nose has been improved on the blades, which have now a metal front tip texture, Exhaust pipes and details on the stack were created, and the carburator intake, with its filter damper was added.

The tail panels have been textured and riveted, and the karman panel added.

Next update should feature some fresh printed parts hopefully !"

Well, don't give me your money. I'm just relaying what he's posting on Facebook (Laminar Flow Designs) for everyone here. But, in the end, if you want to give me your money, I'll take it without any rebuttal.

I do not unfortunately. He hasn't posted any info about price or distribution, only design stuff and a little printing. From what I can tell, he is based in Belgium.

Ouch but…. I did buy the donor kit at a   ‘someone has gone to heaven” price.  I will have a nice Merlin engine leftover for something.

Well, there ya go! All is not lost, I think I got my MKVIII for about $150 yeee. I was thinking that maybe the conversion was going to be ~ $110 U.S. but that's a wild guess . If it comes in lighter I'm a happy mammal If ya don't want to keep your Merlins just launch 'em my way! LOL
