KUROK
I used some of the Vallejo weathering powder on the wheel treads. The jar said you could mix with water...so I did. I also used some added flow-aid (few drops) and, boy, did it work. As soon as the brush touched the wheel it went all around in the treads. It dried and then looked too bright...too opaque. Perhaps I just used too much powder in the mixture. Wet cotton bud was used to try and get some off. It helped a little bit. Here's a photo of how it looks now. Do you think I ruined the model? Is it just too stark? (1/72 Kittyhawk) Edited November 20, 2022 by KUROK Panzerwomble and chukw
chukw
Looks fine to me! If you don't like it you could always add a wash of very thin black or dark gray to knock it back a bit. MikeMaben and KUROK

Citadelgrad
I did a similar “overdo” on a panther tank, using liquid and suspended pigment, it looked fine when it was wet but when it dried it looked like i painted it deck tan. your treads look fine to me. MikeMaben
The first fix I thot of was the same as Chuck's. Mainly around the sides of the tread. Doesn't look bad the way it is. KUROK
