There are clear view panels in the roof of the gear bay to allow the pilot to verify the gear is up and locked.

I did know that, but it looks like Revell molded the entire roof of the gearbay clear.  Guess that saves on molding the windows.

Well, I am so happy that Revell has released this beauty! I will buy a few of them, and have my fun and if there is. Little dihedral missing (I will determine that after building one!! If it truly does exist!!) then I will correct it… Revell has a price point that meets my expectations and I have enjoyed all the Revell new releases. I just don’t understand how so many of our brethren can judge a model by looking at a test build?? … you are assuming that the builder has assembled the kit with top skills… some of these kits are glued together in a short time frame to have a quick test fit and to have something to present. I will save judgement until after I build one!

Thanks Revell!

Cheers

Alan

This is an assembled early test shot. The model has the correct dihedral. The photo from behind is taken from below (you can see a lot of the belly and tail planes) so the view of the wings is from an angle that does not show the dihedral in the best way. In fact, it is quite difficult to see the dihedral when looking at the Hurricane from behind due to the wing geometry - see the photo below.

I quite agree with you, probably can be fixed , but shouldn't really have to right out of the gate. Some people might say " eh, only 3 degrees" but this is noticeable. I saw this straight away with my buggered up eyes. Come on ,Revell , fix this , you know you can.I would rather have the release held up and have it fixed than to see them release a sub standard kit . They're better than this.

Me too, initially, but I believe it's an optical illusion created by the chunkiness of the wings and uniform grey plastic colour. With dark paint on top and light paint under it will look right. If not, I'll close my eyes and ever-so-gently but with all required strength bend things to the count of six and see if it looks better.

Viagra or not, I posted this news as an announcement, NOT as a presentation prototype destined to be dissected or to show off one’s knowledge about the subject.

I would patiently wait until I get the kit in my hands to make comments. In the meantime, I’m just very happy to have a new tooled, big-scale Hurri to wait upon.

Cheers,

Quang

Thanks for doing so. I have one on pre-order from the Lowestoft outfitters and it's getting bought asap.  I'll be putting brick red dope coloured patches (painted masking tape) over the filled gun holes anyway, so just need to know how many.

Really looking forward to getting this kit, and any future offshoots like a Sea Hurricane.

The test shot wing you see in those photos has the same dihedral as the production kit. No change was made and no change will be made in any angles because it is not needed.

I suggest you wait until the kit arrives.

Radu

Thanks Radu, that’s fair enough.

interested in whether the cockpit detail on the test shot is what we should expect in the production kit, and if it is whether you think it’s up to an appropriate standard even if the kit does turn out to be dirt cheap.
