Iain
We take an 'in-box' look at the latest release from ICM, kit 32090 for the Yak-9T. It's a lovely looking kit in the box... Iain
My pleasure Tom - hopefully enough of a taster there to decide whether to buy, or not! Iain Martinnfb

Dave Williams
Speaking of the kit, any thoughts on the colors listed? I get that the exterior paint schemes they are try to represent are AMT-4/6/7 and AMT-11/12/7, and they are pushing their own line of paint, but I’m confused about what cockpit color they are trying represent. They say to use “Sky Grey”, which also the color they use for AMT-11, the lighter grey of the two tone grey scheme, but I’m not sure what the real color they are trying to represent should be. “Sky Grey” seems too light for A-14, so are they trying to represent AGL-5, or Wood aehrolak, or something else? Also, the instructions show the wheel wells in the cockpit color and the MLG struts in natural metal, but these seem like they should be in the underside cooler (AMT-7)? Anyone have any recommendations for what the colors should be? TIA.
Helmsman
FWIW, here is Yak-9 (not T) from Vadim Zadorozhny museum. I don't know how authentic its colors are, but both wheel wells and MLG look like some kind of dark grey. dennismcc
The interior colour would most likely be A-14 Grey, for which I use Humbrol 140 Matt Gull Grey The Sovereign Colourcoats range has VVS colours as well, or the AKAN range of paints which is reputed to be the most accurate. There is lots of good information on colours at Massimo's site here. https://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/colors/1943-45-fighters/1943-45.html There is also a very long thread on VVS colours and model paints on Britmodeller here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234933995-vvs-colours-in-the-great-patriotic-war/ Cheers Dennis coogrfan and Iain 1

Dennis7423
Everyone should buy this kit, it's a nice "little" gem! And, that will further encourage ICM to produce more 1/32 kits, which have all been outstanding as of late. - Dennis S. nmayhew
A very welcome release These yaks are challenging to finish realistically because the real thing lack a lot of surface detail - just like Mosquitos, wooden surfaces etc - and this means a neutral paint finish ends up looking a bit ‘toy’ there are quite a lot of interesting schemes it seems though, so i hope this sells well for them Nick coogrfan, dennismcc, Iain and 1 other
mattcour
Great review, the kit looks really good. Just placed an order upon the nice review at super-hobby.com, where there are some other images of the kit as well with engine details, though I could not tell they are real model or computer renders. No matter what, the details look lovely.

The kit has been sold out in Germany and neighboring countries in the blink of an eye Had 10 days of vacancy. Before the kit was "incoming", after "sold out". As fast as the last batch of Wingnutwing kits. Nowadays only available from Baltic republics or Ukraine for ridiculous prices. Incredible. Did not preorder it because of - well, it's just another ICM kit, nothing special. BIG mistake. Guess I have to wait now for a re-release by Revell Germany...
