Pastor John
AIMS 1/32 Spitfire PR 1G conversion (using Revell Mk II kit) with Barracuda details update. Hi everyone and thanks for following this build. Today I was able to finish the interior work and despite the pain in my hands really enjoyed it.First the dash/firewall was added and this was followed by the rudder pedal assembly. Adding the latter would have been 100% easier if I had not pre-located the framework on the kits floor as I had to twist the pedal assembly this way and that to get it in. With that headache over I was finally able to complete the plumbing of the excellent Barracuda Mk II onwards U/C control - opting to leave the brass wires unpainted. After the rudder pedal control cables were added I could then install the Barracuda control yoke and then the control arm and bracing. Moving backwards so as to leave the pilots seat to last - my AIMS PR conversion 29 gallon tank was popped into place and work started on what remained. The Barracuda seat with kit/scratch built framework had the beautiful Eduard Sutton harness added but I left off the left side lap belt as I planned to drape it over the door. After this my attention turned to the overly thick balsa wood camera box I had made earlier and the camera's were added simply by drilling through the box and into the camera sides and thus allowing me to micro adjust them into the correct place thanks to the flexible but strong brass wire. The camera box and the pilot seat were then added to the model leaving only the oblique mounted F 24/Mk 25 pivot cradle to be re-joined with the pivot arms at the correct angle. Please note that many 14" lens bodies have an angled end but in this case I have not done that. Hope you like and found helpful, John Edited June 28, 2022 by Pastor John TAG, KiwiZac, vvwse4 and 15 others

Pastor John
AIMS 1/32 Spitfire PR 1G conversion (using Revell Mk II kit) with Barracuda details update. Apart from the PR 1G's camera selector control which I had forgotten to add before taking the last photos I was keen to move onto the wings with the Eduard and Barracuda parts. I found that putting a tailor's pin tac into a pin vice was a much better solution than rolling a small ball underneath one of your fingers as per the instructions to make the half-etch appear concave - I know the instructions are only representative haha! Anyway what I did worked a treat and the PE is a very nice solution to the gear bays clearance blister. Although the instructions do not call for any plastic to be removed to fit the box sections in the leg compartments I found I had to remove quite a bit from the side wall as well as the kits ceiling to get a nice fit. With the PE work finished I completely forgot to start drilling and cutting for the Barracuda parts and so went ahead and joined up the wings - no problems though and I was able to do this well enough latter. I have a bit of filling to do now so as to blend in the water cooler base as well as blend the back of the oil cooler as the kit part is designed much too long. Also I drilled out the outboard air ducts a little. Thanks for looking John monthebiff, Fanes, denders and 13 others
Fanes
John, just a heads up: if you intend to mount the landing flaps in the closed position, you will need to remove all the ribs from the upper side. Pastor John
Pastor John
Yes I saw that with a dry fit yesterday thanks. I got excited about finishing the PE and closed everything up too soon! Lots of work needed still Edited June 29, 2022 by Pastor John Fanes and monthebiff
