Just to introduce myself..............

Recommended Posts

I am almost 71, and taking my first foray into "Large Scale Planes" :)

Couldn't resist the Tamiya 1:32 Spitfire, although I don't have a clue

as to how to build it. :/

That, in fact, was a lot of the reason I joined...........I keep reading about the

horrid thick Tamiya decals, and was hoping I could get a referral for a good alternative

set.

Firstly :post1:

Secondly, Hannants are a great resource for product information, here, and as you can see there's quite a range to choose from,

Thirdly, these books from ADH are really useful, link.

Needless to say, you'll probably be able to source them closer to home, unless you live in East Anglia!

"Kagemusha" - Thank You for the reply.

Already ordered the book - sounded like a good idea :)

I'm in the U.S., so I was hoping for a specific recommendation,

so I could source the decals here.

Bit of a problem........I don't know the type or brand to look for

being a novice.

For some reason the Hannants link wasn't working, now fixed, I guess you first need to decide on your subject, RAF - including Polish, Canadian, Czech, Norwegian - USAAF, Israeli, Belgian, Soviet, standard grey/green camo, desert, silver, pink, civilian...

Welcome aboard Mr. Fogey.

I am a recent member myself from north Georgia. Joining this group has been such a pleasure. Good guys all. You will learn so much by scrolling around the forums. Ask any question and you will get good advice.

 Again welcome, John S.

Welcome, Sir.  I'm sure you'll enjoy being part of the group here, many of whom are also in the "well matured" category.  This includes me, and I have to be here because my eyes and fumble fingers don't like the smaller scales. :D

The good news is that there seems to be an increasing number of interesting subjects to build, but you've picked a really good kit to start on.  Do some research, though, and see what others here have made of this kit.  I've built two of the Tamiya Spitfires, but not yet the original release, the Mk IX.  Have fun, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Cheers,

Michael

Well guys............things did not go as planned.

I was hoping to secure the kit, and roundup some

aftermarket for it, but finances did not go my way.

So.........I have decided to give the idea up so I don't

get in too deep. I'm retired and disabled, so $$$ has to

be a primary consideration.

Thanks for the rips and the "welcomes", but think it best

that I quit while I'm ahead :(
