Iain
Having just looked at the ICM Tiger Moth kit, a review of a useful accessory that, in my opinion, will add to the overall look of the completed model: a resin DH.82A Tiger Moth Wing Tank Correction Set from CMK. mozart
This fuel tank is a very welcome addition from the AM people, it represents the real thing well but if I may I'd like to add a little more background information. Firstly, the real thing: and in situ: The CMK set reproduces the metal fluting well, critically on the sides of the tank as well, but it also adds a part which is not part of the tank as such, and that is the horizontal rod at the back edge, this is part of the upper wing structure as can be seen above (the wire for the leading edge slats runs along it). The casting blocks are awkward to clean up, especially the one at the back since it abuts onto this rod; getting the block off is a delicate operation and you end up with something like this: I think it would be easier to cut the rod off and replace it with a suitable replacement leading to a quicker and cleaner finish. When you drop it into the wing it's not a perfect fit: but guess what.......it isn't on a real Tiger Moth either!! I hope these extra close ups are of interest and use. Like Iain, I fully endorse the CMK tank and, for that matter, all their other Tiger Moth extras!
