The Blenheim might be significant enough to kit but is somewhat obscure, I hope Kotare initial releases are kind of tried and true main stream subjects, Spitfire, Hurricane, 109e or P-51B.  Then if they want to do something riskier go for it.  I saw a lot of discussion that they were going to do the whirlwind but obscure post war piston engined fighters just don:t makes sense to me.  If I am going to get motivated it typically has to have a combat story and interesting pilots to go with it.  I have never built a plane just because it had a pretty face.  I mostly consider postwar props to be irrelevant with few exceptions as real development moved onto jets.  We have some notable exceptions like the Skyraider and Corsair during Korea but otherwise I have no interest in post war props.  Maybe there is something wrong with me, but that is where I am at with my builds.

I doubt they would have gone for the Whirlwind, it has been done very well by Special Hobby in 1/32. By the way the Whirlwind was WWII not post war.

I got the wrong plane then, the rumor was a Dehaviland twin engine post war plane, I forget the name then. It is back in the thread.

Then that would be the Hornet.

Indeed!  We had the HpH model awhile back, but even Peter was not able to quite wrangle enough of it in, as it seemed typical HpH and needed some massive corrections to make it right.

If Kotare does come out with a Sea Hornet in IM, Id be on that in a flash. Not super hyped on a Mk.1 spit but the Sea Hornet is a different story!  I'm hoping if they DO go that direction and the Spit sells well (I HOPE!) there would be more unusual subjects on the horizon like the Sea Hornet, but I would totally understand a new company going more main stream.

She sure is purty.......

Yes I agree. But if that's their physiology which I suspect is after the Wingnut Wings more esoteric WW1 subjects, then I don't think we will see a Spitfire/ Seafire family.

Possibly a MKVb to replace the venerable 1976 Hasagawa at best.

Jon

I think we're going to see quite a number of Spitfire variants from Kotare, including at least one Seafire.

As much as i like the Spitfire (up to and including the Mk.IX) i really hope they do different subjects after each other and not just the first few releases being just Spitfires. That would get boring very quickly.

boring perhaps, but extremely lucrative

there's a huge opportunity for Spitfire Vb and with new wings, the Vc, which has never been released in 1/32.

If they proceed deep into the range, it could easily become the definitive Spitfire range in any scale. Id definitely buy a Seafire...........and if they happen to get to a Mk.47 I will be there with bells on!

Following their first release of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk 1, a few people know of Kotare Models' plans for very accurate 1/32 military aircraft kitsets of the Second World War era. If those people are as loose lipped and gabby as the management and specialist production folk were at Wingnut Wings, I believe teasing, pleading, gossiping, guessing, wishful thinking and screaming in the streets at midnight will produce no reliable information at all concerning Kotare's future releases.

We should keep calm and wait quietly . . . On the other hand, Richard, what about a Lockheed Hudson, an early Avro Anson or a PBY Catalina! Yeeeha!

I can guarantee there'll be a Spitfire Vc, and it will be announced just as soon as I've finished the cross-kitting of the Revell IIa and IXc that I'm working on at the moment. :D

I would spend hours studying his pictures of aircraft in the latest airfix catalogue during the 60's and 70's.  That man has a lot to answer for - over 50 years of kit bashing, an intensive love of military history especially WW2, a fascination for all things aeronautical, a massive collection of aircraft books and the list goes on. Those pictures weren't the only influence on me but they were a major part !

How massive?

This is what made me write that below. Yes I know this is TOTAL thread drift and I shall annoy the great and the good by posting this but if the chaps at Kotare had even a shred of human decency they would produce a Blenheim MkIV in French markings like this;

Clearly Roy Cross could see what a winner this would be.  ;)

C’mon who would not want one of these bad boys sat next to their Spitfire Mk1a? My totally tenuous link to the Spitfire in all of this is that whilst my grandfather was busy flying Lancasters my uncle Bert was servicing Spitfires but then went to work for Bristol. When asked would he ever fly in one his instant response was ‘No bloody fear!’

And now back to our normal Spitfire programming….

Best regards,

Paul

Remember buying that kit about 54 years ago at the toy shop on Park Street, Woodstock, Oxon. I never painted interiors and always built wheels-up back then so it was built, painted and decalled by about 4pm that day, as per normal. Strange thing nostalgia — and the power of Airfix boxart. I can't for the life of me recall the contemporaneous Frog box tops (except the Shackleton, of course, which was a legend in its own time).

Back to 2022, I doubt if Kotare will venture into twins for some time, and I'd sooner see a Griffon Spitfire in any case, though imagine that too is BLE. Better start saving so I'm in on the second or third wave of buyers of the inaugural kitset.
