That's looking fantastic, John! But I never expected anything less.

Just catching up John. Welcome back! I love the work you’re doing with this little marvel.

Cheers,  Tom

Thanks Tom! Just a detour into true scale territory.  Hopefully, I'll back on a proper LSP very soon!

I've done some weathering via post-shading with the airbrush.

I've also applied the exhaust stains, again using the airbrush.

Still some more weathering to do but I'm approaching the end of this build.

Here are the finished photos of the 1/72 IBG Focke Wulf Fw190D-9 Early Production kit.  It's a big step down from my usual 1/32 scale builds and the results show my lack of expertise at executing certain things at this scale.  But it was a fun journey and an interesting experiment in technique application.  The build was pretty much out-of-the-box without anything added since the IBG kit is so well featured, complete with PE details.

It looks fantastic, John! My only criticism would be that the highlighted rivets look far too pronounced in this scale. But it's still a very impressive achievement.

Kev

Thanks Kevin.  I dunno... difference of opinion, I guess... but I don't think it looks "far too pronounced".  If I had my choice, I probably would not have chosen to show rivets on a 1/72 190D-9 model but I was curious to see what it would look like.  The camera shots tend to emphasize the busy-ness that the rivets impart on the model but it's not as stark to the naked eye.  Pretty impressive from a molding perspective.

John, we should all be so lucky as to have your "lack of expertise" on builds. It looks fantastic.

Matt

Thank you Matt!  Interesting little experiment but I'm ready to move back to some bigger subjects!

I see your sorcerous ways work in any scale.

Like Kev, I also find the rivets a smidge too pronounced at this scale, but otherwise a totally believable replica of the 1:1 bird, big ups, John!

I would agree with that assessment.  Pretty ballsy to mold rivets at this scale and I think IBG is closer to actually pulling it off than not.  But I realize that the representation of rivets, at any scale, can be a polarizing subject.  Just consider that many kit makers don't include rivets on their 1/32 scale kits.

John,

Just catching up.

WOWZER !!

EXQUISITE  little build.

:wow:

Even in  smaller scale,  you produce a very nicely detailed model aircraft.

Beautiful  workmanship. (Engine  was Top Notch.     ).

Kudos.

Thank you very much!  I never got used to working at such a small scale.  Every time I would approach the bench, I would see the model and be surprised at how small it was!

Truly beautiful, John!!

Thanks Gaz!  Another non-LSP project in the books!  I have a few more in the stash actually.
