Perhaps this is a silly question,  but is there any difference, apart from decals, between the USAF and Asian Air Forces boxings?

I think that's how Roden usually identify unused parts. So it's may be the same plastic

Thanks Richard.  I'm contemplating a purchase, I won't be using kit decals, and I have a chance of the Asian one at a slightly better price, so if I can use that, it's a bonus.

I have the Asian boxing, other than the decals and instructions not mentioning the weapons for example there is no difference.

I picked up the Asian service boxing because it comes with an instrument panel decal, which the USAF/US Army version does not have. (although it isn't that great, better than nothing... I downloaded the instructions for the other boxing from super-hobby and will use AOA decals on mine.

As a former British air cadet I must confess that's tempting, but obviously there's the little matter of the four-bladed prop to consider.

… and the exhaust muffler. But both probably retrofits they only got much later in their Air Cadet career, to quieten them down a bit..
