Nice restart Duke! I love your wood effect as well as the riveting.

I recently did a K-4 and used the rivet wheel approach. How did you like the HGW set? I have the HGW set for a D-9 in my stash.

Excellent   build so far.  Splendid  job so far.

:goodjob:  :wow:

The wood effect is quite realistic.

Everything  looks AWESOME.

thank you foe your comments guys!

the HGW rivet set is very nice and really straight forward in application .  The effect is the opposite of course of the riveting  tool .These are positive raised rivets.

..do not apply them below the primer because the will not be visible - just before the final coat  and then very gently sand the area you want to make them visible again.

I have used them on my 109 G6/Late build ,so ,there you can check the final effect.

The wood effect was made with a wood grain stencil and then i have used some oils (burnt umber and ochre)...

Hello,

i finally started  the painting and i have decided to go with the W.Nr332660 version yellow 1 from JG 53..

i have always been attracted to the planes of this unit ..(maybe is the  black RV fuselage band..)

Most of the references i found shown the underside in bare metal , so i used some alclad shades for the task..

Aluminium , duraluminium , steel and  dark aluminium..

The RLM 76 is AK real color and for the late war version i used MRP

i also have a question about the wheel well area..

Were they painted or just bare metal also?

i tried to create an interesting visual effect  by spraying  three different shades on each panel..

i think it looks good , and adds some visual interest.. (it reminds me the salt weathering effect but without the use of salt!!)

i'll try that on my P-47D !

Thank you!

Love the nmf Duke. I don't think the wheel wells were painted if the wings weren't.

Cheers Bevan
