Also small update on the chinook

after starting fuel boom I figured I need to try and just convert whole thing to MH-47 !

so I got started on the nose. This is just a rough draft but now I know it’s “ doable“ lol made from air dry clay! It was easy to shape and it dried rock hard and sanded like a dream!

that’s all for now on this bird

Little up date on the D model chinook.

I got all the rotor flipped around to give it an in flight look, rather than the static blade sag. As this one will be an in flight diorama

Below you can see the front is how rotors came out of box and rear after I flipped them.

Hello guys back with more helicopter stuff :evil_laugh: lol, while I wait for OH-58 paint to be delivered, I put the ch-47D back on the bench! I’ll probably just turn it into a CH-47F model as the MH47 idea not gonna happen ( can’t scratch build the sharper nose and larger fuel tanks) :( So a 47F is much more doable.. well here’s a few fun “dryfit” pics to get me going again.

this will still be an inflight build

The OCU for UK wokkas is just 3 miles from my house.

Watching them fly over the house is a mixture of awe ...and ........also .........."you realise he is on Learner Plates with his 10 tonne helicopter at 300 feet "

Last winter one had problems and landed in a field in an emergency a few miles away .. the story continues here . ...I'm sure he failed the conversion course ....

Ok for my other chinook kit I’ll be doing a replica of Rotak helicopter services chinook in honor of the pilots Thomas “Tommy” Hayes, 41 of Post Falls, Idaho, and Jared Bird, 36 of Anchorage, Alaska, died when the chopper went down while assisting with the moose wild fire.

here what iv got done so far. Not gonna be crazy detailed on the inside but will do my best on the exterior.

as well I know the Rotak chinook is a D model and the kit I’ll be using is an A model but I’m sure it won’t look to bad

Wife made me some custom vinyl decal stencils for me to air brush the logo and numbers on :punk:

then Added the stripe…

Next was on to the rotors.. and man that was a lot of masking lol…..

I then went ahead and sprayed flat clear on and removed all masking.  Didn’t do much weathering as the chinook was “new” to the Rotak unit.

now need to do exhausts, open up rear ramp and trying to decide if I want to attempt at making some rotor blade tie downs like in the picture of the real Rotak chinook… what do y’all think?

to be continued……
