Border has some tradition of posting funny things on FB. From 24th June:

When one reads this and then the Lancs statement again, it is even more funny...

Yeah.. Seems like healthy company run by professionals.. :/ Even if it is true, kinda sad way of dealing with it..

I received this ina news letter tios morning:

  • Wingnut Wings 1/32 Lancaster - ***** received a Cease & Desist letter from an attorney representing the US interests of WNW stating that Border Models does not have the copyrights of the above kit. ****** has removed this kit from our offering, and hope that Peter Jackson will make this kit available to our community... and relatively affordably!

I’m not sure, from the definition of copyright, that the Lancaster molds themselves have copyright protection. They are a tangible asset, not intellectual property. The WnW lawyers are blowing smoke to get compliance because no distributors want to risk a lawsuit, which would be expensive even though they would probably prevail.

I will repeat again, the whole point of this exercise from the point of view of PJ is to get Border to give him a percentage of the sales. That’s it because WnW sure wasn’t going to release the kit.

It isn't a matter of copyright on the molds - to make the molds, something had to be designed first (by WnW team) and this is the subject of the claim. I don't believe that Border team did modify the original design a lot considering that the instruction images revealed a few pages earlier show that their knowledge of the Lancaster and its peculiarities is, er, limited...

Lovely box.. Really hope most will be built sooner rather than later though! :) if they get shipped at all.. :(

I know I will build mine during 2022  ;) - If my pre-order isn´t cancelled that is.
