Masking cockpits and wheel wells…source for the foam used?

Self explanatory. I am inching toward paint on a 32d t bolt and see many using foam tucked into cockpits and wells.   Whats this foam called, please, and more importantly, where does one get it?

 

any other ideas are welcome, i saw one guy on youtube who packed the wells with damp paper towels, then a bunch if masking fluid.  Didnt seem ideal, though. 
 

as always, i appreciate any guidance.

I use chunks of foam cut from the sponge that I wash the car with.

It doesn't does it!

 

I use bits of paper towel rolled into balls and stuffed into the wheel wells/cockpit/bomb bays/assorted orifices. It works well and surprisingly doesn't fall out

Look no further. The foam Eduard use for their Brassin packaging is perfect for it.

the only downside of that is that you have to buy something to get it

I didn’t buy the Brassin just to use the foam.

All I was saying was: just look around you. You’d be amazed at the number of the number of innocuous things that would be useful to your modelling.

Many items we purchase contain soft foam packaging. Another source are furniture padding. The cushioned seats contain plenty. Beware that as foam ages it dry rots and becomes brittle. If your foam isn't soft then it will leave dust and small bits behind.

Yup me too, except I go to Aldi or Lidl because I'm a cheapskate, lol.

I use facial tissue with making fluid to hold it together. I just use small pieces and when wet it's quite easy to form, and when it's time to remove it just add a little water and it comes right out. Ain't pretty but it works.
