npb748r
just seen on the BBC news website a piece on the new RAF tempest - the pictures of the plane looked a bit like a cross between the Clint Eastwood pretend plane from Firefox film and some of the next generation pictures I've seen of stealth planes. Anyway, the point of the post was my amazement at the estimate service date which is 2035. It seems all dates of these sort of projects are grossly under estimated so assume it's more likely to be 2040. Does it really take modern industry 15-20 years to design, develop and build an aircraft ? If so, wont combat life have moved on by 2035 and render todays designs outdated ?? npb748r
just spotted the original article was dated 2018 which makes the timescales worse
