This year, I have also been a "victim" of the Black Friday! For years I had a look at the 1/32 Revell Apollo CSM spacecraft. However, the kit was initially released at least 55 years ago and shows its age with a lot of clunky and not very accurate details. This means aftermarket is required but the choice is limited and the price quite hefty. So I always stepped back because the final cost would have been around 350€! However, when I saw that AviationMegastore was giving a 50% discount on the New ware internal photo etched set, external resin and photo etched set, decals and resin astronauts I took the plunge! This was also helped by the fact I found at the same time a discounted kit of the last Revell release on eBay Germany. Yepeee!

I have the same kit, and some years ago found a pe/decal set at Cult tvman. The CSM would look good next to a WNW Taube, methinks.

Got my copy of the DOWA 81 aircraft.

DOctor WAgner, year 1981 - the smallest possible aircraft for 5 passengers. Built to escape from East Germany to West Germany across the inner german border. Full story here.

Parts inside the zipbac:

It has printing lines, indeed, but where to get another one? Parts are nice and well detailed, that is what matters. And the price is a bargain for a full 3D printed kit.

Size comparision:

You see front and aft fuselage across the Bf-109 wing and the Dowa wings behind them. Yes, it has the same scale as Eduards 109 (which is a smale aircraft by itself)! It was a very small aircraft, indeed, and capable to move 2 adulds and 3 children for 100+ kilometers.

One of the two engines, taken from a motorbike (photoy by vendor):

Photo of a build-up model (the 1/32 scale testshot):

Well, the east german Stasi put the family in jail just one day before departure. They had wiretapped them the whole time. The Stasi tested the engines, they worked as planned for 30 minutes. Then the whole aircraft was put in Stasi-storage for years, to be recovered after the peaceful revolution in East Germany and put on display at a museum.

Had to look up the fate of Dr Wagner and his family, fortunately eventually they ended up OK as far as I could find. The engine looks my old MZ motorcycle one! edit: which of course it was. Mine was a much later ETZ150 btw.

That is cool! Any plans for a build log in the OT section here? I'd be very interested!

I'm not sure when I'll get to the kit but I'll try to remember to do one. I've got March Hare's XA on the way to me as well.

Carl where did you get the kit from?

Michael, I ordered it from Lazy Modeller in Australia.

https://lazymodeller.com/

They show as out of stock at the moment but I picked the notify me option and it came in a couple days later.

On a Britmodeller thread,  some.folks have suggested a couple other shops.

This one has the XA in stock.

Metro has them as coming soon.

https://www.metrohobbies.com.au/search?type=product&q=interceptor&_=pf&pf_t_scale=Scale%3A1%2F24

I haven't tried either of those other ones before and this was the first time I ordered from Lazy Modeller but their service was great.
