LSP Dioramas

I thought about 1/32 dioramas a number of years ago. To that end I picked up a 1/32 Opel Blitz truck and the half tracked version of same. I figured it would work with as a forward airbase refuelling truck, barrels in the back and a guy operating a manual pump. I also have one of the old Monogram 8 wheeled armored cars (forget the designation, Sdkfz 238?) Look around and you can find some of the old Renwal 1/32 vehicles, I have a couple that would work well as Pre war American pilots car or a post WWII RAF pilots personal vehicle.

Ha! I did the same re Blitz trucks. Airfix also has a 1/32 “Monty’s Humber”

that should be able to be converted.

Airfix did a range of 1:32 cars; alas many are long OOP and fetch silly money on eBay.  Among these was a Mini (a "proper" Mini if you know what I mean), and this was extensively used as a general utility car by the RAF.  https://www.rafmc.co.uk/history

Would that I could find one of these at a reasonable price.

Good point. Airfix 1/32 vehicles are, for someone who is willing to do a bit of work, a gold mine as are Matchbox 1/32 kits e.g. an MGTC next to a Spitfire or Tiger Moth.

Best regards,

Paul

The 1st Gen Ford Escort would also be useful, I believe the old Airfix Mini tooling was modified to turn it into a Scalextric car unfortunately

I learnt to drive on a Mk 1 Escort!

Shame about the Mini, but that explains the high prices I found on eBay when I thought I could find one: there was one at a BIN of around £400.

Mint Reb Box Escorts go on ebay for 160-250 , but they did re-issue it some time ago in a gift set m and they're cheap as chips, thankfully ,

Pity there isn't a 32nd Transit , I was told a story by an Ex RAF regiment member of a time when one of his mates embedded a transit , (or Sherpa?) into the leading edge of a Vulcan's wing , as he was so used to running around the pan in a Mini!

Incidentally he told me that the  called the guard dogs were know as Brains on Ropes, as they were generally brighter then the handlers! - and I apologise to all RAF Regiment troops !

I learned to drive in an Austin Allegro - then bought a MK1 Escort

Then another, and another... Young men and cars can be rather destructive

I seem to recall the Sherpa being very common.
