Greg W
Hey gang, I have the Pro Modeler/Hasegawa Bf 109 G-4, that I want to backdate to a F-4 using the Aries conversion set. Would the RB Productions G-2 photo etch wheel well set be ok to use on the F4, or were they significantly different? Thanks, Greg Edited September 28, 2021 by Greg W
Greg W
Nothing in my reference library illustrates both versions well enough for comparison. Edited April 8, 2021 by GDW
RBrown
Vast majority of F-4s had the round wheel wells, G-2 reverted to the earlier style common to F-2, and E series. Greg W and D.B. Andrus 1
Greg W
Ok, the shape of the openings were different, how about the inner structure? Edited April 8, 2021 by GDW
Greg W
The wheel well openings on the G4 kit are already round, so thats handy. Would it be ok to add the RB Productions G2 photo etch set and call it good or is the difference in the detail far to great to represent the F model wells? Some F-4s did have the same wheel wells as the G, although it was rare. Check for photos of the aircraft your going to model, there is a possibility that it has the G style wells. Greg W
Found a proper reference for the Bf 109F: Model Art Bf 109F Mechanical Guide This will fill in the gap in my library, regarding the F types.
